As sterile as modern metalcore gets, both in production and songwriting. Still, the songs are short, some of the guitar work shows vision, and the vocals hold up well. The damn drum kick kept pulling me out of the experience, though. Overall, fun short album. | 3.0

Another strong Archspire album. This time, though, what really sold it for me was the increased
focus on melody, something that the band hadn't experimented as much with before. They're still
fast and technical as heck, but a lot of these tracks win me over through catchy lead guitar
lines and more accessible structures that actually revisit ideas instead of relentlessly mutating
them (got em). On earlier albums, I was there for the wacky time signatures and intelligent
dynamic compositions. They stroke a better balance here, and it made for a great album. It just

A lot of slow, technical dillydallying. It feels like a clear step back from everything the band
has done up to this point where nothing is outright bad, but nothing really stands out either. A
pleasant enough prog rock experience, seemingly aimed more at genre purists than fans of the
band's once dynamic songwriting. | 3.0
