^ lol!
that said, he was an alright vocalist, and to be fair, he held his own considerably, when you think that he was always going to be compared to bruce dickinson, one of the best metal vocalists ever. if the songwriting from the rest of the band had been as good during the blaze era as it was during the bruce era, people would think a lot differently of blaze. but as it is, he seems to get the blame for the xfactor and virtual xi being so underwhelming, which i've always thought is a little unfair.

Blaze is actually quite a capable and talented singer. He just gets a bad rap from bobble-headbangers who regularly act as a colonoscope for Bruce.
No disrespect to Bruce of course. But Jesus baby-eating Christ are metalheads annoying when it comes to line-up changes.

Can someone tell me if this has a GY!BE reference and if so what?
|

Blaze's years with Iron Maiden are a permanent blot in metal history. He fits Wolfsbane a lot better. I may check this out...
And I dont think it has any reference to GY!BE.

Well there is a song called Blaise Bailey Finnegan III on Slow Riot... by GY!BE.
I looked it up and it turns out it's this guy who is the one in the interview who reads the poem. I never knew who he was.
|
| |
it's not the same guy, the GY!BE guy just goes by that name and the poem he reads on the Slow Riot EP is an actual Maiden song, it's a sort of dumb joke on his part I would gather

He's also on Providence reciting part of a Hank Williams song.

yeah I know but knowing GY!BE and hearing that guy it's pretty clear he's just same crazy anarchist loon so he probably just goes by that name while reciting iron maiden lyrics as some sort of dumb statement

Steerpike, you are my hero!
Why the fuck can't metalheads be a little more optimistic and open to change? Must be all the repeditive chuga-chuga breakdowns!

In reference to Iron Maiden - they have no chuga-chuga breakdowns. He just didnt lead the band the way they needed to go. Maiden needs a pompous assohle like Bruce to always make sure theyre going in the right direction

I know Iron Maiden doesn't have any breakdowns. It was a generalized comment. I agree with your comment about Bruce and a band like Iron Maiden needing a pompous asshole!
