Insomnium is a melodic death metal band from Finland, influenced by doom metal, playing songs about sorrow, death, and loss. They alsoincorporateelements of northern Folk music and Symphonic music into their sound. Insomnium is supposed to be a word pertaining to dreams,with variousinterpretations of its meaning. The original hallmarks ofthe band's Scandinavianmelodic death metal are very scarce, as the band has turned into a more epic approach. The melodies are highlymelancholic, and the overall sound ismuch darker.
