AG is running around practically doing everything BUT Circa at this point (Solo, TSOAF, L.S. Dunes) so this doesn't surprise me one bit. I can only imagine the rest of the band had enough of his shit and just finally called it quits.

Had a friend of a friend pass away of a heroin overdose that was a huge AG fan that met him a couple times and AG showed up to his fucking funeral unannounced, nobody can tell me he’s not the best guy

I mean showing up to a funeral unannounced could be considered weird by some parties. I'll assume that they had deeper correspondence than just being a "fan that met him a couple times".

Anyhoo, I don't think this is particularly spicy. They're probably all burnt out by the crazy shit that's happened within the band/Anthony and want to take a breather. I'll put a couple bucks down on new music happening in a year and a half.

The guys in Circa legit seem like a family and I don't mean that in a strictly positive sense. There have been multiple drug and mental health issues, and I'm sure that's taken quite a toll on all involved. I don't want to read too into things, but Anthony's most recent brush with death seems like a bit of a wake up call to maybe a sense of co-dependence within the band, hence his hard to turn to seemingly everything but Circa.

I understand why they would be bitter about him focusing on other things and I understand why he would focus on other things. Circa output has never been bad and the last batch of EPs marked an interesting turn in sound for them, but it also seemed a little...forced to me? I really do hope this is a hiatus and they can work out their differences eventually. If not, it's been one helluva run

I think the "worst" thing they've done are probably the EPs, but those are still like 3.7/5's for me. Every album has been at least a 4 for me

This sucks

Kinda saw it coming with their drummer being in and out of it and more out than not on the EPs, but man... One of my fav bands forever. Somewhat of a miracle that they sticked it out with each other as long as they have, especially Anthony and Brendan, but this always seemed family first, band second. I guess Anthony's second relapse & instant touring solo after really hurt the others even more than the shock of the first one did.
Hope they return one day

The newest material is honestly quite dogshit to me, but there's still a good track or two to be pulled from there. Other than that, their track record is pretty spiffy clean to me.

The On Letting Go anniversary tour was one of the best shows I've ever been to. I've never seen a stage setup recreate an album cover so perfectly, Turnover was touring on Peripheral Vision and opening, mewithoutyou almost stole the show, and AG was pitch perfect the whole way through. Went from being a band I really liked to one of my favorites. This is a huge bummer but hopefully they revisit things in a few years and crank out another classic.
