Steven Wilson New LP & Single 2026-09-11 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 6 Comments | Steven Wilson will release his ninth solo album, Requiem for a Village, on November 6 through Fiction Records.
Following 2025's The Overview, the 54-minute record centers on an imagined British village, drawing inspiration from rural folklore, ghost stories and the atmosphere of films such as The Wicker Man.
Wilson approached the recordings with an emphasis on imperfect performances and experimentation, incorporating unpredictable analogue synthesizers and instruments he had little experience playing, including violin and oboe.
The album features narration by actor David Tennant, written by XTC's Andy Partridge, who also contributed lyrics. Other collaborators include multi-instrumentalist Randy McStine, drummer Russell Holzman and singer Katherine Priddy.
The title track is available now, accompanied by the first installment of The Village Hall Sessions, featuring Wilson performing with McStine and Holzman.
