Lankum and ØXN vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Radie Peat has announced her debut solo album, "No Human Tongue Can Tell," due November 13 through Rough Trade Records. The nine-track collection draws on folk songs exploring women's struggles, resilience and complicated experiences of love. It includes "Still I Love Him," released in July, alongside the newly unveiled "The Moon and Stars." Peat has reworked portions of the latter's lyrics to emphasize its female protagonist's anger at betrayal and abandonment. She explained that the song contains coded references to unwanted pregnancy and abortion, which she wanted to approach from the woman's perspective. The idea for a solo record had been developing for approximately fifteen years. Watching a documentary about Mike Oldfield's creation of "Tubular Bells" inspired Peat to explore the possibilities of writing and performing intersecting musical parts herself. John "Spud" Murphy also worked with her on the album.
