Dregen Bows Out of Hellacopter 2026-09-17 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 0 Comments | The Hellacopters have confirmed that founding guitarist Dregen will permanently leave the band because of lasting damage from a hand injury.
In a September 16 statement also shared by the guitarist, the Swedish rockers explained that Dregen had been absent for approximately three years. Although everyone had hoped he would recover sufficiently to return, the damage to his fingers is permanent.
The band clarified that Dregen can still play some rhythm guitar, but most of The Hellacopters' repertoire is now beyond what his injury allows.
LG Valeta, who has filled in throughout Dregen's absence, will continue with the group.
The Hellacopters emphasized that Dregen remains part of their extended family and expressed confidence that he would pursue other creative projects.
Born Andreas Tyrone Svensson, Dregen co-founded The Hellacopters in 1994 alongside Nicke Andersson, Kenny Håkansson and Robert Eriksson. He is also known for his work with Backyard Babies.
