RIP Vangelis

2022-05-19 by JP Patino Izquierdo | 55 Comments
Vangelis, the Greek composer that was a member of the legendary progressive rock band Aphrodite's Child and had a decades spanning career as a solo artist died at the age of 79, as confirmed by the Athens News Agency. He was in a French hospital receiving treatment for complications stemming from COVID-19.

Alongside others like Jean Michel Jarre, Brian Eno and the Berlin school of electronic music, Vangelis was one of the most influential musicians in the development of electronic music.

He was also known for his many soundtracks, including the widely praised soundtrack for Blade Runner and his Oscar-winning composition for Chariots of Fire.

One of the best to ever do it

His patches were astounding and his compositions just as good

Rest in peace

R.I.P.

He left us a discography whose consistency is somewhat underrated these days. Much more that's good in it than just the film scores. And then there's obviously 666 too

Glad to have had the opportunity to have him as a favourite for so many years. Won't ever forget

Tragic. An old music head from Detroit who worked with me at my last job introduced me to Aphrodite's Child after telling him I liked Vangelis and that shit blew my mind man. A true legend, hard R.I.P.
