Silverstein Cause a Scene

2022-02-24 by jesper EMERITUS | 38 Comments
Canadian maybe-still-post-hardcore (but potentially dadrockcore) outfit Silverstein have announced Misery Made Me. The brand new full length album will be released May 6 and features the newly released single 'Ultraviolet' as well as last year's 'Bankrupt' and 'It's Over'. Comprising eleven tracks and four featured artists (Mike Hranica, Andrew Neufeld, Trevor Daniel, nothing, nowhere.), the record follows A Beautiful Place to Drown, one of 2020's many unfortunate developments.

I liked the two tracks they released last year, but this one does nothing for me. I was hoping for a bounce-back album, but this has me concerned.

This band is so desperate for a radio hit these days. That's all they ever write. Sirius XM Octane-core.

sounds like an alternate early 2000s reality where Story of The Year didn't release Until The Day I Die and did this instead and didn't sell enough to get into Target stores XD

What's the common point between Muse's Won't Stand Down, Rabbit Junk's Pathogenesis and Silverstein's Ultraviolet ?

Can we just make a blanket statement to the music community that the song title "Ultraviolet" has met its quota and that they need to come up with a different word?

Also.... is this even Silverstein?

I almost feel bad for them because they got to a point where their sound was stagnant but where do you go after that? It's almost a logical point to take a break or break up.

Dude what happened to them!? I haven't checked anything new from these guys in at least 5 years but if their last album sounds anything like this then I've done myself a favor. It isn't even a bad song.. just so painfully... generic.

this is aggressively okay [2]

smile in your sleep and midwestern state of emergency are the only songs of theirs i like, theyre just too 'nice guy next door' with okaaaay riffs.

they could improve by picking heavier screams and going dark like under oath's disambig and surprise people imo

Every new song is mostly generic ass, until they throw in a glimmer of what they used to be. It's like their original sound is trying to tear itself out of seran wrap.

their debut to Dead Reflection is such a solid run of albums. It's a shame they've gone full BMTH-core/octane-core
