The Butterfly Effect new album

2021-12-01 by bananatossing | 11 Comments
Australian alternative metal/progressive rock band The Butterfly Effect have announced a new yet untitled album for 2022. This is their first album in 13 years and the follow up to Final Conversation of Kings, which was the last full length release before the band went into hiatus.

The band recently released their second song since coming back from hiatus called "So Tired" on November 17. This marks the official first single for the upcoming LP. The song hearkens back the sound of the debut EP and Begins Here, with a harder alternative metal sound. In a recent interview with Heavy Magazine guitarist Kurt Goedhart said about the new album:

“We sort of started… on our last release… straying into the progressive world. This song and when we came back – especially when we did the tour – it was a bit of a realization because we put together all of our most rocking tracks, and we had so much fun on the tour. This is what we do best. We do simple, hard tunes the best, so let’s just stick to what we know and that’s what we’ve done. I guess that’s been the formula and always been the bridge before we start writing. The actual song itself was written as a verse at about three minutes for the whole song. The last two minutes is just a bit of old school stuff of what we used to do. It’s been great fun. All of the tracks that we’re writing, we’re just trying to make everything as short and hard and heavy and dark and catchy as we can.”

That been said, I didnt like the first half of So Tired, last half is where this band's at.

Unbroken is solid, didn't make me go ape, but it's good.

@Dewinged I do hope they maintain enough of the prog and not go full alt metal, but man I don't remember being as hyped for a new release since Hopesfall's Arbiter.

Yesss. They only released one song with that one other singer but it wasn't going to work.

yea this song is not particularly exciting, the verses sound like some post-grunge Octane shit. I hope they actually let Clint sing on the album

Final Conversation was great so could’ve kept some prog to vary up their sound.
