ZZ Top's Dusty Hill passed away

2021-07-28 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 36 Comments
Unfortunately, ZZ Top's bassist and occasional lead vocalist, Dusty Hill passed away in his sleep at home today. He was 72 years old. Although the cause of his death was not announced yet, it might be related to a hip injury that caused Hill to bow out of the band's current tour.

"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.”
You will be missed greatly, amigo.

72 years is a damn good run, and Tres Hombres will forever be the first thing I reach for for a night drinking with friends. RIP hard

Wait I had no idea he was living in houston. All these years and I could’ve tried to meet him. ZZ Top helped me pick up the guitar. Rip

Isn't Houston bigger than Rhode Island though? In my mind the ZZ Top dudes all seclude themselves on massive cattle ranches where they can drive around and lasso steers from their hot rods and other similar cool as fuck stereotypical texan imagery.

@Sitar yes the Houston metro area is the size of Connecticut. Imagine having to drive across an entire state in rush hour traffic. Good memories but glad I don’t live there anymore tbh but sadly there are few to no ranches in Houston. The city is alot less cooler now without Dusty man
