The War on Drugs New Song 2026-09-10 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 2 Comments | The War on Drugs have released Who's That?, their first piece of new music in four years.
Written and produced by vocalist and bandleader Adam Granduciel, the song reportedly emerged within ten minutes during the narrow morning interval between his first coffee and taking his child to school.
Its lyrics address the struggle to find self-acceptance while confronting anxiety, depression and self-doubt—the internal forces that can prevent people from embracing the lives they wish to lead.
An early version of Who's That? was performed during the band's Drugcember to Remember benefit concerts in Philadelphia in December 2025. The completed studio recording is accompanied by a Max Flick-directed music video.
No new album has been formally announced. The War on Drugs' most recent studio LP remains 2021's I Don't Live Here Anymore, while their latest full-length release was the 2024 concert collection Live Drugs Again.
The group will perform at several festivals through the end of October, including both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
