New Everything Everything Track

2021-03-11 by Tunaboy45 | 12 Comments
Everything Everything have returned with a new song entitled 'SUPERNORMAL', alongside re-scheduled UK and Ireland tour dates. Frontman Jonathan Higgs stated in a livestream after the song's premiere that it was recorded during the RE-ANIMATOR sessions, but was left off due to it not fitting in with the tracklist.

The video, made in Blender, Mixamo and MakeHuman, was directed by Jon over the course of a month. He elaborated on his creative process in an interview with American Songwriter:

"The idea was to make dozens of tiny, explosive shots of action, ugly and extreme naked characters being distorted, surreal objects and animals, oversaturated colours, bright lights—all these impossible, grotesque images coming at you far too fast to comprehend,”

I can see why this was left off RE-ANIMATOR because it's much less introspective and bittersweet than a lot of that album, but I have to say I like it a lot. Very much what Breadwinner was to AFD.

how typical of Everything Everything to release their best songs as b-sides

I definitely prefer them to release their b-sides this way as opposed to putting them on a deluxe edition, it sort of worked for GTH but Arc was a bit of a mess with all the different regional editions and bonus tracks.

Looks like this is getting released as an EP for RSD with another new track, Mercury and Me. I remember Jon saying he was really proud of Mercury so looking forward to hearing it.
