Intronaut announce new album

2019-12-11 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 53 Comments
Intronaut return next year with a brand new album, Fluid Existential Inversions, due out on February 28 through Metal Blade Records. The LP was recorded by Josh Newell, then mixed by Kurt Ballou and marks Alex Rüdinger's (Whitechapel, ex-The Faceless, etc.) debut behind the drum set. It is unclear at the moment if he will tour with them or not. Besides this, the band also added mellotron and analog synthesizers for the first time in their music.

A music video for first single, 'Cubensis' (featuring the album intro 'Procurement of the Victuals' too) was revealed as well. Watch it below:

Tracklisting:

01. Procurement of the Victuals
02. Cubensis
03. The Cull
04. Contrapasso
05. Speaking of Orbs
06. Tripolar

Anyway, I live maybe a full mile from Come and Take It Live, but I probably won't go because I can't really do stuff during the week. I also don't want to be seen at a place called Come and Take It Live.

wish i could get hype, but the single almost sounds like an over-the-top parody of Intronaut. if the rest of the album follows suit it's probably gonna be the first Intronaut album since Void that isn't a 4.5 for me

One of my favorite bands. So stoked and so sad all these shows are forever away from me. That show would be massive.

Not what I was expecting but you can definitely still tell it's them. Also that's an Intronaut video if I've ever seen one.

@hesperus This. Honestly sounds like they completely forgot how to write a song, or just didn't try. And also Ballou being involved with this on top. Man that sucks

don't get the parody criticism at all tbh. sounds like where they'd go after TDOLT

only thing i feel it's really missing is danny's drumming. rudinger is fine here but it lacks danny's creative flair

^that's the worst part, he wasn't found guilty. the band kicked him out as a kneejerk reaction basically to not spoil this peak of their career.

They must have thought it was a good probability if they kicked him out.
You can not like it all you want but you don't know anyone involved so it's a moot point.

Love the first three albums, can't say the same about the following two.

I will probably catch 2-3 songs from this.

Danny is an amazing drummer and I was so pissed he left and knew the band would not be the same.......but then Alex Rudinger joined. Literally the only other metal drummer I like as much as Danny.

Rüdinger is a great add to the band. the vocals sound kinda weird here but the music is pure heat. the only other drummer I would have liked to see here would be travis orbin but Alex has a great following so this is a good move for them

"this is their only offense to a bad title imo"

digital gerrymandering? in the unlikely event of a water landing? teledildonics? the direction of last things? the pleasant surprise? harmonomicon?

you gotta be high af to think anyone will want to say those out loud when someone asks what song is playing.

now that I've got that out of my system, this song is pretty sweet. vocals did sound a little awkward but it's nice to have some punch back.

"digital gerrymandering?"

2024 political topic

"in the unlikely event of a water landing?"

I rather land on land agreed

"teledildonics?"

lot of dildos in telecommunications agreed

"the direction of last things?"

probably downhill

"the pleasant surprise?"

it really was!

"harmonomicon?"

cthulu goes post-metal

Awesome that they got good production! Their latest release felt really lifeless, it's fun hearing a proggy band like them go for Kurt Ballou production!

I didn't like that too. Seemed very rushed and just like said it was basically to save their asses
Track is alright, but i kinda miss the post metal, since to me this is pretty much just a mathy prog metal song

Vocals are most noticeably shittier, yeah. But everything besides that aswell. I have no idea why they would go for Ballou, especially as a prog band. Records he is involved with usually are huge brickwalls
