Video is jaw-dropping and the song rules.
Yeah, video is ballin. The song is good, but they have done better.
Digging: Bela Bartok - The Miraculous Mandarin, Sz. 73
The album is self-titled btw.
hot damn those lyrics coupled with the video is some next level shit
decent song, glad to see these guy back after 10 years
English translation :
dis gon be gud year
Digging: Yes We Mystic - Ten Seated Figures
Digging: Warforged - I: Voice
Digging: Idle Hands (USA-OR) - Mana
decent song, who really works/gets enhanced thanks to the amazing video.
Digging: Chevalier - Destiny Calls
Damn, that's an impressive music video
the guitar riff almost reminds me of some recent A7X song... Hail to the King maybe?
maybe i'm just crazy
Hmm, well that album sucks so that can’t be right.
Vid is soooo gooooood. Track is fine too. Stoked for the album!
Well, I really didn't like the video. But the song was kinda cool.
i bet ur favourite movie is casablanca
Digging: Tyler, the Creator - Igor
Very meh, definitely wasn't worth the 8 year drought.
Digging: Dawn Of Demise - Into the Depths of Veracity
Song & Video are fantastic. They're a complete deconstruction of Germany and it's history with regards to today's developments. Basically "yeah, the right wing fuckheads are coming back and it sucks, but look, bloodshed & atrocities are kinda what Germany has always been about, so what's to love about this country?
Digging: Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
Song gets better with every spin.
wonder how much this video cost to make
millions wouldn't surprise me
I seriously think Rammstein could be the richest metal band in the world, they take in serious coin on their tours.
yeah they have fans everywhere. guys have probably been on holiday the last 10 years bar the tours
band is so consistently awesome
No they literally burn through their savings with all... that... fire.
is this the cover
idk feels like it should be an anthology kinda album. yea we get it ur back guys. unless they fuck off for another 10 years
here's the cover:
That’s the ‘complete Rammstein’ cover on Spotify, so I doubt it.
that's the single cover. i meant the album cover
That’s the one for the single.
oh god these song names are obnoxious
Lindemann's solo project and Emigrate are decent tho
so perhaps it's better if they channel all their questionable ideas into side-projects and leave the best for what people actually care about. I don't mind an album once every 10 years, as long as it is the best they could gather up in those 10 years
(but it's very likely that some of them won't be around in 10 years)
@fish the one you posted is already on a compilation album on Spotify.
It would make sense if the new album is self-titled for that to be the cover actually.
yh i think it might just be wikipedians speculating tho
Where are the song titles?
probably their best video imo. funny how they managed to trigger left- and rightwing folks just the same.
"Where are the song titles?"
where have they pissed people off?
they triggered the ones ignorant enough to not know what to expect of Rammstein at this point and they put their fans into absolute euphoria
I doubt those are real titles haha, nothing outright posted on their website.
they may be incomplete titles
I wonder if they'll ever tour the states again
Sad how all the "News" websites and twitter warriors pretend to be all so shocked disgusted about this, just for clicks. Everyone knows that they do what they do to provoke.
A lot of people don't understand satire and imagery, or exhibit a superficial zealousness cos they don't actually understand the subject they claim to tackle
"“I think it is a tasteless exploitation of artistic freedom," Klein said"
plus zionists latch onto anything, while the israeli and hungarian governments cosy up. the current hungarian gvt known for it's positive attitude towards jews, i.e. pls send them to israel
ah sod them. it'll blow over come April.
The minimal elements of the Nazi ideology enacted by Rammstein are something like pure elements of libidinal investment. Enjoyment has to be, as it were, condensed in some minimal tics: gestures, which do not have any precise ideological meaning. What Rammstein does is it liberates these elements from their Nazi articulations. It allows us to enjoy them in their pre-ideological state.
The way to fight Nazism is to enjoy these elements, ridiculous as they may appear, by suspending the Nazi horizon of meaning. This way you undermine Nazism from within. - Zizek
I mean, this is like the black metal bands that pretend they are nazis. It's shock value and pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable in art to its absolute extremes.
it's mocking nazis. it's so over the top it can't be taken seriously
precisely, but they're too big to have their gigs cancelled, so no worries about this. it's Rammstein, Till Lindemann ain't gonna bow down for any little wanker.
I think the song titles are [explanation/translation in brackets]
1 Deutschland [Germany]
2 Madig (?) Radio (?) [radio is radio, madig is literally maggotty. It's used in "jemandem etwas madig machen" -> to put someone off something]
3 Fick Dich (?) [could be any four letter verb. Fick dich means fuck you]
4 Ausländer [foreigner]
6 Puppe [puppet]
7 Was ich liebe (?) [pretty sure about that one, translates to what I love]
8 Diamant [diamond]
9 Weit Weg [far away]
11 Tallymann [google it, it's the same in English, but I never heard of it before]
it reminds me of the discussion they have in This Is Spinal Tap where they are arguing why Duke Fame's cover isn't sexist, while Smell the Glove is
"Because he's the victim. Their objections were that she was the victim. You see? if the singer's the victim, it's different. It's not sexist. I mean if we had all you guys tied up, that probably woulda been fine."
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever
The lyrics and the video seem to capture the ambivalence you feel towards a country you were raised in and that you appreciate, but you know many people did and still do disgusting things in its name.
It's a bit confusing and I could be wrong about this, but atm that's the way I look at it
Whoa this song is so good
Digging: Lil Ugly Mane - Mista Thug Isolation
So I wonder if Ramm4 is going to be a part of the album. If it does it might have a different title by the looks of it.
Digging: Rammstein - Rammstein
will this finally convert me to a rammstein faithful?
@Tomstein: don't think so, it is too much of a live-burner. the lyrics literally reveal the sogns they will be playing at any given concert.
Song really grows on you. Intro gives me a Master of Puppets vibe. It's awesome.
I really liked Ramm4 too, there was never a studio release for the song though.
wait the song is really good i'm actually extremely surprised, didnt expect to enjoy a rammstein song in 2019 tbh
video is insane too
What an awesome video, neat song too
Digging: Kino (Rus) - Gruppa krovi
Got chills when the Sonne melody kicked in
Video of the year, no doubt about it. Song rips hard too.
Digging: The National - I Am Easy to Find
Not a Rammstein fan but this video is maybe the best music video I have ever seen. Give me some videos that are as good as this!
Digging: Employed to Serve - Eternal Forward Motion
Awesome video, excellent song
Digging: Deathspell Omega - Si Monvmentvm Reqvires Circvmspice
Very good video. Meh song.
Digging: Gabor Szabo - Dreams
love to see yall loving the video so much
makes me happy
was never big on rammstein but this song and subsequent album might actually change that
christ on a cracker that was absurdly good
Digging: The National - I Am Easy to Find
Eargasm. Eargasm all over myself.
Crazy good. Stunning visuals and the song is a banger.
Digging: Full of Hell - Weeping Choir
went on a Rammstein binge today to celebrate m/
^ bout to do the same. this fucking slays
video is dope too. German's as Roman legion is fucking whhhaaaaa
It's not the Germans as a Roman legion, it's the Germans beating up the Roman legion. Or at least it's a reference to the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest.
The black woman seems to be Germania. It's smart to do it that way, so you can distance this stuff from nationalism.
those are definitely the dudes in the band, who are German, dressed as the Roman legion. also, Teutoburg Forest most definitely took place before 16BCE but alright
"so you can distance this stuff from nationalism."
You (Germany, Germany over all)
I mean, the guys who get hanged are also the dudes in the band and the people in the concentration camps came from multiple nations (and germany). I don't see that as a contradiction.
He sings "Germany above/over everyone" to be precise. It's a reference to "Germany over everything", buuut it's more about the violence in its history and not about glorifying. It's playing with this stuff and twisting their meanings. This is a bold move. But maybe a bit too subtle for not getting lost in translation.
It looks like the people in the space suits are scanning stature and artifacts. The other scenes with these lasers are probably reconstructed out of the data or something like that. That's a hell of a video
''it's more about the violence in its history and not about glorifying. It's playing with this stuff and twisting their meanings.''
THIS. A very bold move indeed. Love love love them for it.
I liked the part where the tatical police guy with the p90 starts shooting at a bunch of medieval knights
Digging: Rammstein - Rammstein
Like fish said earlier, it's like they never left.
"The minimal elements of the Nazi ideology enacted by Rammstein are something like pure elements of libidinal investment.
- Zizek"
Shit, there is actually a guy accusing them of nationalism. I thought that was only for tabloids.
WHO IS PAYING YOU KEV?
I don't think he's serious.
If he is, there's probably some kind of medication for whatever fugue state blocked the nine minutes of contextual, lyrical and tonal clues from registering.
Video fucking rules.
Song fucking rules.
Digging: Arch/Matheos - Winter Ethereal
imagine they started their concerts with this song and had all the crazy red lasers going all over the place. shit, i wish i got tickets now
Listened to this again today, still rules. Black chick is sexy too
the shots of her in that medieval armor make her look incredible
I liked her in the gold with the 6 dogs on leashes the most lol
pretty good song
"I don't think he's serious.
If he is, there's probably some kind of medication for whatever fugue state blocked the nine minutes of contextual, lyrical and tonal clues from registering."
don't med shame me you ableist scum
I see there are a lot if people who say this video is great. Could you also explain why?
The aesthetics are pleasing while showing us a controversial tour of German horrors through the ages.
I'm not sure you can appreciate what ENORMOUS BALLS this takes.
And as a bonus the music is better than we were allowed to expect.
''what ENORMOUS BALLS this takes.''
That, in combination with the super nice visual style and the huge amount of work and dedication and care that went into making this. Love that they still feel the band is worth all that trouble.
''And as a bonus the music is better than we were allowed to expect'' Yeah and this too.
The video is a feast for the eyes. So many details with links to german history and iconography, it's impossible to take it all in with a single viewing.
I mean as far as the details and work that went into the video... not to stereotype but they ARE GERMAN. Germans are very pedantic as a general rule and like organization and detail. Heard a story about a German Swiss guy cleaning a trash can with a toothbrush. That's attention to detail.
WE'RE ALL LIVING IN GERMARIKA
Latest thing I heard about these guys was that their vocalist was going to do a trap/trap rap project or smth like that.
Did that actually happen haha?
> not to stereotype
RippingCorpse1986 I think it's just one track for the new Lindemann album. Most of the rest of the album is going to be from the Hansel and Gretel play they did I believe. The trap rap song is called Mathematik, I prefer the metal cover version some smaller channel did though that I found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44aEAC6rwN8
Lovely video, decent song.
Thanks for the response, Tomstein.
I need to rejam these dudes after being away for so long. Also gotta hear the trap rap song, just for the lulz.
By the way, there was another great video by a German band just a few weeks ago. Not this outrageous in production, but still great. It's also 100% more weird. Check out Deichkind:
album cover is a matchstick
bet the album is going to be self titled
So ready for another single.
"bet the album is going to be self titled"
yeah they pretty much said it is 5 weeks ago
album is confirmed to be lit
3 days left lads. my body is ready
whoever's got erectile dysfunction *swoosh* no longer does
Ive got the dick-ah
"3 days left lads. my body is ready "
I don't think i'll ever be ready
you going to any other their tour shows gonz?
would love to, but one UK date and it sold out instantly. joke. I should have seen them in 2010 or 2012 when I had the chance.
nah. the UK venue is harder and more expensive to get to than a lot of the mainland europe dates for me, and I live in scotland
but ive seen them 3 times before in arena sized venues. im not a fan of big stadium gigs, so im not too fussed about missing this tour
yeah, I hate stadiums too, it's all about the dingy 1,000 capacity club
Need a stadium for the flamethrowers, otherwise it's a safety hazard
