Make Me Feel is absolutely wonderful. any song that pulls off Prince worship this well has a place in my heart. Django is a def weaker instrumentally, though there is a bit more to absorb lyrically.

Both of these are solid, but the most amazing part is that the same woman did both. Janelle's versatility is insane

So this doesn't mention Janelle's upcoming "emotion picture" also titled Dirty Computer. I admire that she sticks to her creative vision. Chick played played an Android on Philip K Dick's Electric Dreams (on Amazon) that just released too. Played it incredibly well imo.

Yeah DJango is super weak. Gotta believe that both of tracks tie directly into the narrative of this movie she is putting out though. Maybe be more enjoyable in context.

I just get annoyed that you or anyone thinks that he knows why I wouldn't like some song, (especially if your stated reason is "you're a man/sputbro") so I just flipped that around and pretend to know why you (or women you know) like something.

flipping it around doesn't really work because this song is literally a female empowerment song (in a world that is very sexist and an industry that is specifically so). like you can't really argue that a song with the line "let the vagina have a monologue" is not going to definitely appeal less to people on sputnikmusic.com, a site where you can't discuss music by women without someone popping in to say whether or not they think they're attractive. i think that's a perfectly fair assumption.

I disagree completely. I reject the assumption that music by female artists appeals less to men just becuz. FYI my favorite album of 2018 so far is "A Poem unlimited" by U.S.Girls. And men discussing the physical attractiveness of women is no indication of not appreciating female artists. (also a music site frequented by mostly young women/teenage girls would have comment threads about the attractiveness of male artists as well)

I just checked Django again and really it’s not a bad track at all, her voice just sounds a little callous which is probably intended but idk it grates to me
