Not enitrely impressed but it's still a good song
| |
Meh. Hoping the rest of the album is better.
| |
Works great as a single. They always set a groove well.
| |
Sorta generic but I like it
| |
Link is not working for me (maybe get on that?). Went to Spotify to listen to it... this can grow on me. Evo's right, set's a good groove.
| |
Really solid song.
| |
Betting on a 3.8 as always
| |
It's okay..ish
| |
I lost count on how many very solid modern rock album this band released. their formula stays the same unfortunately and that makes them increasingly boring imo
| |
whats with vocals being low in the mix nowadays? first gore, now this? not that you can't hear the vocals, but they're just...kinda in the back, at least at the beginning of the song.
song is solid. just what i expected.
| |
It's a pretty good track. Their albums are so consistent and im sure this one will be too.
| |
It's decent, but I thought they said industrial influence
| |
i liked it
| |
Nothing amazing but I dig it.
| |
Welp, can't listen to it.
Don't have a Spotify.
| |
It's on youtube, although not on their official account: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmUJF6Z9tEo
| |
I thought they kind of changed their generic songwriting formula for La Gargola. Solid new song too.
| |
Now that I've heard it, it's a damn good song. Hyped for the album; that bass tone is sick.
| |
"whats with vocals being low in the mix nowadays?"
You don't like Jane Doe, bro? Get the fuck off this site before they kill you.
| |
Song is good, as ever. Even though I thought Gargola was outstanding I usually just expect solid from them, and that's basically their floor.
| |
Sounds like your average chevelle song. Pretty good, hope the other songs are better.
| |
This is the first time I've heard a Chevelle single and thought "meh". Which is kind of sad, me being a fan since in between TTOT and Vena Sera.
Is it just me or does this song share some similarities to Take Out the Gunman? The dynamics and the way it hammers on a G power chord in the chorus, and the screaming in the bridge really strike me as similar.
| |
I find that the first song they release is usually one of the worst on the album. It's a good song but I'm sure the rest will be better.
| |
Did anyone else get a huge Muse - Hysteria vibe from that opening riff?
| |
I'm getting a Hats Off to the Bull mixed with La Gargola.
| |
@Sleep, true. They've always had a penchant for choosing bad songs as singles. I'll wait for the whole album

"This is the first time I've heard a Chevelle single and thought "meh". Which is kind of sad, me being a fan since in between TTOT and Vena Sera."
I'm experiencing the same thing. I've always been super excited once the single comes out but this is the first time I'm indifferent about it and it's not a good feeling at all. I figured at some point though this band has to disappoint me, they've been on this unsustainably consistent run for a long time.
| |
I did what you wanted cosmic, and reported you for this offensive comment: "Yay Chevelle"
| |
Can't say I'm that impressed, but I thought "Take Out the Gunman" was meh at first. Then La Gargola actually turned out to be a surprisingly good record, so it's difficult to make assumptions so early for me.
| |
Fuuuuuck that bass sounds amazing.
| |
Kinda lukewarm about this, but as I see people have mentioned, their singles tend to be so-so. Personally more a fan of their Vena Sera/Sci-Fi Crimes sound, but everything they've done so far is solid, so I'll still have to give this a listen when it all comes out.
| |
lol look at all the people giving detailed opinions
| |
Sounds like more Chenille. I'm in.
| |
Sounds good. I'm sure it'll work even better within the tracklist.
| |
Whoa. This is the heaviest they've been in a really long time. Love the hook. Very fluid writing which is typical of their singles but this is no fucking Well Enough Alone

Dig it. That fuzzy bass tone throws back to Vena Sera. Love the way his vocals flow over the verses. There has been no drastic evolution in this band but slight variations along the way has kept the sound fresh and the band relevant.
| |
Even as someone who isn't really a DR / compression snob, the production on this is pretty terrible. Not too surprising, though, since it's a Chevelle single.
Otherwise, it's decent. Chances are I'll totally forget about it by tomorrow, but I can't say I didn't enjoy it at all. Album as a whole is probably going to be a personal 3-3.5, with a 3.8 avg on the site.
| |
Eh, pretty boring methinks.
| |
the bass on this track is orgasmic
