"hotline bling" is the best thing Drake has done and I can say that with complete confidence

Look, it's another twenty-something year old American man finally giving The Smiths' biggest and well-received record a chance. And wow, it was deserving of my attention well before I was willing to give it. I was slightly worried that I wouldn't understand some of the material - that it may be just a tad too British for me to fully grasp it. This is not the case. Whether you consider the lyrical content to be humorous or depressing (both have been expressed almost equally, it seems) it grabs you. It's biting, sarcastic, over-the-top, genuine, and melodramatic, fitting perfectly with the happy-go-lucky on the surface but murky underneath music. These should not be singalongs, but they are just because they shouldn't be. And I think that was the point entirely.
|
| |
not bad
|

yeah I wrote that. dick in hand too.

|

well album's been talked about for over a year now so yeah it's been somewhat anticipated
|
| |
"It means they suck.
Comprehension 101"
He specifically said "frauds"... is he saying they are trying to pass off as good rap artists when they aren't? I think that's ridiculous, between them they've made some of the best rap records of the last decade. And I'm not even a big Lil Wayne fan.
|
| |
You've been scammed m8
|
| |
"Drake and Lil Wayne... how did the world accept frauds like these?"
what the fuck is a fraud moron
|
| |
holy shit its a figure of speech. its sometimes used as a term to describe people who have become famous/successful despite being pretty shit at what they do.
|
| |
so what im saying is... drake is fucking shit
|
| |
yeah? well in that case
you're a fraudulent judge of rap
|

drake fallin off
|
| |
this isn't good
|
| |
This isn't Drake's strongest song, not by a long shot, but that doesn't change how strong his career has been ever since he broke through. I think it's odd that people don't like one track and all of a sudden we're calling Drake a fraud. Honestly I think the mainstream hate on here is sometimes a little ridiculous.
|
| |
agreed, i think it's a testament to how strong he's been up to this point that people are jumping out of the woodwork at the first opportunity
|
| |
I hate the majority of his stuff... not just this.
|
| |
I don't find this song to be very good. Nothing more to it.
|
| |
song is fucking fire and i cant wait for this album

"Drake and Lil Wayne... how did the world accept frauds like these?"
haha what
second beat is really, really good. his flow is aimless and sloppy, but still enjoyable overall i suppose.
|
| |
nothing aimless or sloppy about this but ok lolo
|
| |
Drake has been very consistent his entire career. & I'm a fan of the general moody / atmoshpheric production of his music. & have enjoyed seeing his music progressively take a tad of a darker, aggressive & more confident turn.
That said, this first release off of views scares me just a bit. The expectations are through the roof right now. Despite all of the success of If You're Reading This It's Too Late, he's constantly maintained this "eh. thats just the mixtape. Views is the real thing you need to watch out for" attitude.
I mean honestly. Imagine spinning this album over and over. Is this a song you want to hear?
Honestly I'd much prefer that this song never see the light of day on the coming album. & would rather this just be a throw away promo / hype / reminder that the album is coming, track.
HOPEFULLY he'll damn near pull a Kendrick ala the release of "i" and we'll see that the song fits once the album comes out. But idk. Given the lyrical content it feels very buzz topic-y & like it won't age well or stand the test of time.
We shall see.
|
| |
"HOPEFULLY he'll damn near pull a Kendrick ala the release of "i""
for the love of christHimself HOPEFULYL NOT
|
| |
how do you plebs not like this song
|
| |
back to back & hotline bling set a pretty high bar for this dude in terms of views singles
i don't think this really holds up, it's not a bad song but it sure doesn't make sense as a lead single to me as it stands
|
| |
i don't dig any of those particularly tbh, which is funny
