Love the song and album, not really feeling the video. They should have gone for something more like the Gast Bouschet visuals they had for the album teaser. This fails to capture the spirit of the album and really doesn't seem to go with the lyrics. Scott Walker himself said the song was inspired by the fact that Marlon Brando appeared to get beat up a lot in his films, and that there was a "masochistic longing" to it. I don't really pick that up in the video and it doesn't have enough energy or even playfulness with the music.

Didn't bother watching the video because it just didn't seem to suit the song as you said. Just had it on in the background and I liked some moments but i wasn't so sure on others

The picture the song paints in my head is far superior to whatever the video was going for.

And I'd imagine this would be quite a way for anyone unfamiliar with Scott Walker to be introduced to him, with that abrupt and loud over the top intro section. It takes some warming up to.

I imagine something with darker colours, like an old church or something.

I'm ok with the eccentricities of scott walker and I actually thought he was the best bit about this but I dunno, it's lacking in something

The droning backdrop could seem dull to those that are used to Scott Walker's often unconventional and elaborate arrangements. It's definitely scaled back and pared down

I wouldn't know about that, but I was hoping that the instrumentation would be a little more lively and active

The guitar twangs were great though. It needed more of that

The tracks Bull (excluding the extended outro) and Fetish are a little more active in that sort of way.

Commenting on the video again, I feel like this video could actually dampen the effect of the music. I hate to say that because it isn't horrible, but it just doesn't work together.
