Cynic kinda goes pop, but still great
| |
Not sure how I feel about this
| |
i dig it and im a close minded retard!!1
| |
Surprising......sounded very different
| |
Yeah, i'm really not sure how I feel about this either.
| |
I'm liking the direction they've taken, but I'm not so sure about the production -- I think I preferred the dense, slightly cleaner production of CBA. The melodies are definitely there, though, and it certainly seems like a logical extension of both Cynic and Aeon Spoke.
Edited to add: And the bass, I'm really not liking the sound of those repeating quavers.
| |
PAUL I LOVE U
| |
Outstanding. The vocal harmonies play insanely well off the instrumentation. Different, but the common thread is there. If this is indicitive of the entire release shit's gonna jam hard in 2014.
| |
"extreme metal" lol
song rules, restored my faith in Cynic and this album being good
| |
Yeah this sounds quite different. Love the verse and the way the vocals sound. It's kike half robot half human. Everything after 2:35 owns hard as well.
Hyped for this!
| |
Song is fucking awesome.
| |
sucks surprise
It's kike half robot half human.
woah there bud
| |
hyp do u even celestial voyage
| |
I liked Traced in Air less than most.
Digging this though.
| |
Bass is easily the tightest thing on this track. But this is really an extension of CBA + Aeon Spoke and doesn't feel that "Cynic"-y. It's still good, though.
| |
hyp do u even celestial voyage
nope
| |
Song is good but nothing special, c'mon Paul.
| |
so bad
| |
hmm let me just rinse the taste of that out with focus
| |
yall are homophobes
| |
That bass I don't know. Mix is weird. Still pretty enjoyable to me though.
| |
Giving it a repeated listen the bass is definitely a highlight, still have high hopes for the album.
| |
I agree, I'm actually starting to like the bass the more I listen to it.
| |
its just so catchy
| |
This kinda sounds like if Cynic covered an Incubus song to me.
| |
Ehhh
| |
I liked it
| |
mix does sound off. maybe it's just the shitty headphones i'm using.
| |
idk
| |
Not as groundbreaking as I was hoping, but the upbeat sound is a welcome change.
| |
So not metal in the slightest is what im taking away from these comments
| |
not metal but still awesome
| |
not digging the production much but the song is sweet
| |
i can dig
| |
It's Cynic writing happy music.
| |
Snoooooooore.
I'm starting the think that I might've never actually liked Cynic in the first place.
| |
meh
| |
oh god why did they come back oh yeah to tarnish their classic album
| |
It was okay. Will probably sound better in the album's context though.
| |
I dig it, but I admit I do have some issues with the production and how happy it sounds. Hopefully it works in the context of the album.
| |
It's really catchy, but damn it sounds so upbeat
| |
Didn't expect this, but it's nice.
| |
neat
| |
Good song, album will be great!!
| |
This is good. Still very much Cynic in my eyes. It's like Focus, mixed with Traced in Air, mixed with the soul of beauty and happiness.
| |
and we laughed when that guy posted that cynic were gonna do a Heritage
| |
Bass sounds great. Something just sounds off, though with Masvidal I can never tell if it's his vocoders or the mix.
| |
I love it. Doesn't sound very much like Cynic, but I don't care.
| |
anyone know where i can get Aeon Spoke in 320? it's near impossible to find and i doubt any record
store within a 500 mile radius of where i live has them in stock
| |
This is really really really realllylyllylyly good
| |
Liking this, but for how long? Who knows...
| |
twas alright
| |
this is great
| |
underwhelming as ever
| |
What the hell is going on with the production?
| |
Production is seriously weak...can't judge the song quite yet.
| |
Honestly haven't heard any Cynic, but this is a stark contrast to what I understood them to sound like. I enjoy it nonetheless. Definitely need to check out the new album when it drops as well as dig through their back catalog.
| |
the hell is this shit
| |
Well absolutely nothing like it should sound
| |
its ok
| |
at least you can hear the bass this time around
| |
this is cool
| |
huh.
| |
Def has that Aeon Spoke vibe.
In Cynic I trust.
| |
Starts off great but doesn't really continue to be great. Still stoked for the album none the less.
| |
Song is okay but "okay" is not what we've come to expect from Cynic. [2]
| |
lets see what cynic does.
| |
Maybe we won't be bending after all
| |
its ok
| |
It is ok, but that production is killing it for me. It could actually be better with better production.
| |
Where's the "Heavy"? If I wanted to listen to Aeon Spoke, I'd listen to Aeon Spoke. Heavily disappointed.
| |
theres ur heavy ha
| |
Weaksauce.
| |
If the Beatles made a modern day metal song, it might sound something like this. I love the black versus white, ying versus yang thing going on in the video and the lyrics. I think this album is going to be a game changer for Cynic, and that is most definitely a good thing.
| |
not gonna lie this is kinda dry
| |
Only good thing I can think of is Malone is very much audible. The chorus is kinda lol tho
| |
radical with garb production
| |
wtf that chorus
holy fucking shit is it bad
| |
Paul Masvidal=John Lennon of metal.
This band needs to keep making albums. Each release of theirs is nothing but quality, and a complete adventure. You can never predict what they are going to do next, which is exactly what I want from a band.
| |
I got a big zeppelin vibe from the main riff. love it.
| |
Cynic covering all of your dad's favorite songs
| |
I love how this band brings out all the wannabe fourth rate 'metalheads'.
Don't you all have an Arcade Fire album to listen to?
| |
only heard first 30 seconds but i can tell that track 5 will be my fav off the album. album is solid 3.96 top 10 2014
| |
"Where's the "Heavy"? If I wanted to listen to Aeon Spoke, I'd listen to Aeon Spoke."
more like
"this song, which is representative of the entire album ofc, is not the sound i wanted ill coimmplain cause im not willing to open my puny brain"
| |
I liked it
| |
All you crybabys crying about not liking a new Cynic song, I can't even listen to it because I'm in Germany and it's GEMA blocked. Now you tell me what's worse than that
| |
lolmany
| |
Not a fan, but it's good to see them branch out (even if they've already sounded like this elsewhere).
| |
Well its all shits n giggles until THE PRODUCTION IS ANNOYING and that's my one complaint about it.
| |
youtube compression. youtube compression. youtube compression
| |
Cynic ft. Frankie palmeri: kindly bent to watch you suck his dick
| |
I liked it.
| |
why didnt this have a breakdown??!
| |
how could you
| |
So Cynic has become Aeon Spoke.......
It's catchy......... Not crazy experimental amazingness that I expected of Cynic. It's just one song though.
So as it stands for me, early 2014 is real congested music wise and this doesn't help that, lol
| |
i enjoy it
| |
Don't be such a
Cynic
| |
the bass is pushed so far forward on this song.
| |
b00m spec b00m
| |
Yeeeeeeaaaaaahhhh
| |
On the fence but I pre-ordered anyway.
| |
this sucks so bad

Masvidal ft. Moreira
| |
This absolutely ridiculous that this is being released under the 'Cynic' moniker. This is not metal, it's an obvious cash-grab. It's an attempt to stir up enough controversy with the past fans of Cynic's actually interesting brand of metal to con them into buying this plain alternative music. This material has already been released as 'Aeon Spoke' and should be released as that once again, it's definitely insulting to past fans of Cynic.
In regards to the actual song, it's mediocre, and I would presume, mildly entertaining to those that enjoy alternative rock.
| |
"this song, which is representative of the entire album ofc, is not the sound i wanted ill coimmplain cause im not willing to open my puny brain"
Reinert did mention their album is going to be along this line, so yes. Cynic pulled an Opeth.
| |
Wow so much hate talk. Cash grab? These guys? Give me a fucking break
| |
"cash grab" are you fucking high...
| |
cash grab, no
gay, yes
| |
"This is not metal, it's an obvious cash-grab."
Who cares if Cynic is not metal on this album? Cynic is Cynic. They play whatever the fuck they want
and they can get away with it because they're Cynic. It's good music, whether it fits within the metal
genre or not.
| |
Great fuckin song.
| |
The song has really grown on me, but I really hate the lyrics. The second verse about plants and seeds is laughable honestly and the line "Kiss the mouth of realities face" is squeezed into a spot where he has to like speed talk it through to keep a melody. Maybe its just not for me
| |
I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THIS ON CASSETTE AND IN FLAC FORMAT!
Just kidding, this is pretty good, but not so much my cup of tea.
I imagine the album will be pretty varied, so I'm not too worried about it.
I better listen to this a few more times.
| |
I'm still looking forward to the record. I wasn't expecting it to sound like Traced in Air, nor did I really want it to. The track is definitely a grower.
| |
I like everything on CBA more than this, hopefully the album is better.
| |
wheres the dm
| |
'ss OK. Might be a grower, but I really hope this is one of the weaker tracks on the album.
Malone kicks ass as always, though.
| |
