won an autographed vinyl of theirs in a contest last Christmas... still have yet to listen... don't intend to...
|
| |
hey this is actually a good idea for quite a few reasons
1) sticking to an alter-ego gimmick takes quite abit of self-discipline
2) not many bands have managed to successfully conceal their identities and pull of the ability to come of as legitamite monsters, many have failed (ex. The Berzerker, Slipknot, Mushroomhead, Gwar have all been un-masked at some point intime)
3) their dedication is staggeringly heroic in that it clearly wastes more effort to support it than just letting the members doing w/e it would have been easier to keep the drummer and let him desecrate their monsterous alter-personallities and looks that they've worked so hard to maintain, the amount of dedication along deserves koodos
|
| |
Some people take the band's money and spent it on drugs
Some people get in fights with the band
Some people want to take the band in a completely different direction
This guy took off his mask
|
| |
Yeah I don't care how hard it is to conceal an identity like that, that's a straight up dick move. We're not 5 we know that they are people not monsters, but most importantly this band blows sooooo fucking hard.
|
| |
wait the band isn't actually comprised on monsters? WTH? I feel mis-lead
|
| |
Lordi ain't fuckin' round
|

Saw Lordi on the mainstage of Ozzfest a few years ago, wondered who the hell they were. Then they sucked. Hadn't heard about them since. Now this. pfft

Look at it this way:
What would happen if Batman took off his mask in public?
Exactly.

There was actually a better reason for Kita's departure than just the principal that you absolutely must have a mask or else you're out of the band. Kita's band Stala & SO. has been going for quite a while but only now has it presented a problem. The band didn't want to fire Kita and waited a while before making the decision. But when Kita revealed his face, the Finnish media decided that if one member takes his mask off then it's okay to reveal all the other members. Kita made a choice to appear as himself but the other band members still want to remain unknown. So the only way to save the image that the band has tried to maintain for a decade was to fire Kita and let the media know that one member can't have rules applying to them that are separate from the rest of the band. He himself knew the risks so in a way he left, in a way he was kicked out. But there is no bad blood between the band and him. He's still friends with all of them and has even helped the new drummer by giving him tips.

Must have been listening to GWAR.
