"Personally, I'm wondering if their contract with Victory Records stipulates that they release a new record every year."

Or, they just don't put any time or thought into composing great music, and instead are completely content with rushing out overly mediocre breakdown-fests.

YES! I needed something to give a harsh negative review for in the near future, and this is awful. w00t.

I've never particularly HATED this band, but that doesn't mean I think they're good. Just an enjoyable listen every now and then.
From what I hear, the only improvement here is that the vocalist can do deeper screams now...that's it

Lol. This band is kinda like The Devil Wears Prada. Music is alright, but they have stupid fans and do stupid shit like the "convicted felon" lineup on their myspace. Not to mention 90% of sputnik hates them.

lets all boycot breakdowns.

Unskathed123

It's not so much breakdowns that are a problem, I mean even Dying Fetus and Suffocation have breakdowns, as does 80's thrash.

The problem is bands giving up grooves, slams, riffs, and songwriting in general in favor of having tons of BR00TAL parts. They don't even realize that good riffs and nasty slams are ten times more brutal than breakdowns.

A breakdown done right is placed at the end or near the ending. When the whole song is building and growing, and then boom. The song drops into a sick, groovy breakdown and everyone dies.

Nowadays it's all about seeing how many (sic) breakdowns you can get into one "song."

They keep declining.

And I loved Goodbye to the Gallows, and I (generally) have a good taste in music.

They're one of my favorite simple breakdown bands.
