Hello everybody and welcome to another Sputnikmusic newsletter, our weekly rundown of what's happened and what's happening this week.

///

A quick reminder for anyone who missed it that Tyler Munro sat down for a chat with metal legend Devin Townsend, and the results can be found below. Watch out for Nick Butler's in-depth Motown feature later this week.

Diligent workers that we are at Sputnikmusic, we've paid close attention in Public Relations 101 class and come up with a range of (hopefully non-obtrusive) social networking options for you across Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.

As ever, we're making minor changes to the site's format and fixing bugs to make your experience here a little more enjoyable.

Take notice that the "Best New Music" section of the main page now contains a clickable link which will take you to a cache of all the albums that have been most highly rated by your favourite staff members. And Jom.

Additionally, the features page has been updated to match the new site design.

Our PJ Harvey & John Parish and Flipper contests have now closed (those winners who haven't been informed will be informed very shortly), however you can still put yourself in with a chance to win tickets to P!nk's upcoming US tour by clicking the link below.

"A quick reminder for anyone who missed it that Tyler Munro sat down for a char with metal legend Devin Townsend..." Small typo.

Someone should review the new Franz Ferdinand, seeing as their last release was a quick return to form.

Nah, the Franz Ferdinand is just a remix CD or something like that. Maybe not "remixes", but it just offers different versions of the songs that were on their last album.

Says there's one new song, the rest are dubs

I enjoyed Tonight a lot, I'd listen to to Blood

i'd like to request a staff review of the new Elvis Costello album, if only for the fact that it probably won't get reviewed otherwise

It's not on the list because it came out yesterday, but I think a staff member should do a review of the new Gorod.

the "Best New Music" section is kinda lame right now though. it's seriously lacking the users avg rating

Where is a reputable site that has that as its release date? Their label still has it listed for July 28th (I know our site and others have it as June 1st, but is it actually on sale anywhere?)

The release dates for Gorod on play.com and amazon state the 15th June.

So there's some confusion on the release date but nothing affiliated with the band and no retail outlets have June 1st or 2nd as the release date is what it seems like.

I believe both RYM and Metal-Archives have June 1, which is what I meant.

The only reason it's important is because that means people can't start posting reviews and it also gives the staff guy more time to get one out before the release date.

It seems pretty clear that June 1st isn't the date, though.

Edit: honestly, it's also important because I'm the one keeping track of these release dates as they come up and if was June 1st it would mean I blew the date by about 6 weeks.

Their MySpace says June 1st, and (although it's a pretty damn low number) 2 people claim to own it on CD on RateYourMusic. Sorry to say, but you may very well have.

Really? I checked their Myspace and didn't find a release date anywhere. It doesn't make sense that their record label would have one date, retail outlets another date, and Myspace/Random websites another.

I kind of had to scour the site. I found it in the blog post about Programmers of Decline streaming. Maybe it just has different release dates in different continents and they're terrible about communicating that?
