Rise Against have released a video for the song "Hero Of War" from their latest album 'Apeal To Reason'.

The band give some insight to the song on their myspace.
Quote:
We've just completed our new video for the song "Hero Of War" off of our record, Appeal To Reason. "Hero Of War" is the story of one soldier, not all soldiers, as he battles not just the war around him, but the war that rages within. Inspired by true events, we were given the choice to either document the tribulations of these times as they unfold around us, or ignore them. To ignore these problems, in our opinion, is letting down the brave men and women who risk everything. "Hero Of War" is our attempt to lift the stigma that surrounds everything from the skyrocketing suicide rate of troops, torture, internal sexual abuse, an under-funded VA, and the growing number of military personnel fighting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as they return home. We hope this song and this video help the simmering dialogue about these problems evolve into a rolling boil.

Didn't like the song, video was kind of chauvinistic. But really well shot.

Unthought? I suppose in a way... Tim doesnt really show much entusiasm thats for sure. Though the song and clip sort of dictate why.

I have no idea what you just said, to be frank.

Well Chauvinism means 'unthinking enthusium for a particular country' does it not? And it was meant to say Tim not Time my mistake. haha

Yeah, it was the "time" that threw me off ("wtf, Dougie's getting philosophical!); yeah, he doeslook unenthusiastic but it's really appropriate for the video's intonation (not to mention the inherent mellowness of the song). I guess I meant it's a bit chauvinistic as a song in it's own right. Maybe I'm just using words wrong like an illiterate buffoon.

Baha, It takes a bit of effort for me to be philosophical... and yeah I completely agree with you on the unenthusiastic comment, like as I said before

Tim doesnt really show much entusiasm thats for sure. Though the song and clip sort of dictate why.

Haha, buffoon no...

The song and video are okay. Something seems to be missing, but I'm not sure what. I liked Audience of One loads more.

I'm so serious. I love Rise Against, but Savior is quite honestly the best song they've ever written, in my honest opinion.

Not at all. At least Hero of War is catchy. Long Forgotten Sons is the weakest song on the album.

And yeah Kris, that is soooooo wrong its ridiculous. Mainly since Whereabouts Unknown is a not as awesome Survive.

Have to agree that Savior is one of their best songs. That being said, Rise Against has a myriad of amazing songs to choose from. They have about 25 songs on about equal standing as Savior.

Video was okay though, I was expecting something a little more intense actually. The video really didn't capture the power of the 3rd verse, in my opinion.

You'd never guess they actually support the troops from the song. Which is why plenty of other people are getting the wrong idea from it.

The video really didn't capture the power of the 3rd verse, in my opinion.

Yeah definitely. Nothing escalated or grabbed your attention there, when it's kind of the most important part lyrically.

i think having chosen this song for the third single (not a great call in my mind), they had to make an amazing, attention-catching video. it's a little bit short of that, but i respect the decision

I think they wanted to make a statement with the song, and making it a single is exactly how you get people to hear it.

Fair enough. I think Rumors Of My Demise Are Greatly Exaggerated and a lot off the first 2 albums are better than the best songs off the latets album to be honest.
