Kind of last minute but I just noticed.

Epic.
Animal Collective the other week was awesome; ditto Manchester Orchestra. Love me some Letterman.
|
| |
Yeah, old news, and they're not so great live. If they perform Oblivion... well, Brann is the only one who stays on key. Brent's vocals are pretty sketchy.
|
| |
Shit, I can't believe I missed Animal Collective.
|
| |
I haven't watched Letterman since Cursive performed who did amazing.
THe show itself is terrible, that bold guy with the glasses who just repeats everything Letterman says is sooo annoying. But the music is almost always fantastic.
Brand New's and Bon Iver's performance's have been my favorite that I've seen.
|
| |
Cursive on letterman confused me because i was at their show in hollywood THE SAME DAY. and he usually doesnt film early.
|
| |
He was pretty decent tonight actually. I usually watch Leno though.
|
| |
Shit, I can't believe I missed Animal Collective.
Hit up the Tube; it's there
|
| |
Yeah Summertime Clothes was awesome.
|
| |
"Mastodon is a rock and roll band from Atlanta... I won't lie to you, I'm fightened."
Brann Dailor is sick.
|
| |
He's sick? Respiratorily?, or is he just awesome?
|
| |
It was abridged.

I mean he's awesome.
|
| |
Oh good.
|
| |
Time to YouTube Animal Collective's performance.
|
| |
i like watching all these great, out of the mainstream acts because dave always looks like he doesn't at all like the band that's playing.
|
| |
Same here. It just adds a little something knowing Dave is pissed that he has to sit through it.This Message Edited On 05.15.09

I liked his little wallpaper quip before the Animal Collective performance...you could hear the displeasure in his voice haha
|
| |
"Their new album is called Mama, I'm Swollen!" *everyone laughs*
|
| |
I just switched over to Jimmy Kimmel.
Time to watch Eminem suck... Hooray!
|
| |
Will watch if I don't forget.
|
| |

Almost as good as his pronunciation of Folie a Deux.
|
| |
Fuck Mastadon
|
| |
Instrumentally it was alright.
Vocals were....what's the word I'm looking for...terrible? Yes, that's it.
|
| |
Dave=Hillarity
Paul Schaffer=Pest
|
| |
But I'm pretty sure Paul Shaffer has a hot Daughter which means he can't be too bad.
It means she'll be bald by twenty
|
| |
i just like the fact that like half of letterman's jokes are inside jokes that the average viewer wouldn't fully understand. and the pointless games. Shaffer is a fuckhead though.
|
| |
Paul makes that show man. Him and his quick and witty comments.

Don't you mean the comments he recycles from dave, thinking he's adding something to the joke?
seriously, I get the feeling even Dave finds him annoying as hell.
|
| |
I wish I had seen this last night. I would have definitely watched it.
|
| |
Waior was correct in saying Brann Dailor is the only one who can carry a tune. I saw these guys last year and for some reason I remember them being better. The musicianship was still pretty tight though.
|
| |
i watched this on tv last night. never heard a full song by them. they arent bad, i might just give on of there albums a listen.

and conan tops them all
|
| |
I feel mastodon are pretty good live, but on the other hand, they're missing their signature sound, they're not as tight live
|
| |
I've never seen them live
|
| |
I saw Mastodon on the 15th and they were as tight as they were on their albums. This was the best concert I have been to. The only thing I can think of that would cause them to play as they did last night was that they are simply out of their element. I would also like to add that I cringed through the entire show until Mastodon performed. Letterman's terrible humor coupled with his fake, hollow laughter, makes for an unenjoyable show.

they play oblivion.
|
| |
Hmm, that's better than the other videos I've seen of them playing that song.
Also, it's interesting how they shortened it in places.
|
| |
i like that one where they played it in that studio looking place. i heard it before i even heard the cd version.
|
| |
Wow...they really shortened up the intro haha
|
| |
Yeah, that was really well shot and the audio levels were perfect. Except that they can't sing. Brent sounded better on Letterman though.
|
| |
totally agree
|
| |
I had no idea Brann was the vocalist in the beginning
|
| |
He was. And he can sing.
|
| |
Yeah he sounded much better than the other guys haha...he does have one shortcoming though...lack of beard...
|
| |
Letterman sucks actually.
Conan is the last vestige of talk shows.
|
| |
no.
|
| |
Yes.
|
| |
That was a pretty decent performance. I didn't realize Brent was the one singing at the beginning of the song, which is pretty cool. The rest of the guys looked kinda bored though.
|
| |
letterman is such a faggot
|
| |
I normally don't watch Letterman anymore, but I would have liked to see this. But if they were on Craig Ferguson it would have been a different story
|
| |
Nah, Letterman rules
|
| |
Conan is easily the best. But i don't get the Ferguson hate. i think he's fuckin hilarious. Letterman can be alright sometimes if Paul Shaffer shuts his trap. the announcer for letterman is hilarious though
|
| |
Agreed, Conan is the best easily.
|
| |
These guys are great live, hopefully will be on letterman too.
|
| |
Nope they blew it with massive chunks, vocals sucked and they shortened they shortened the song, alot.
|
| |

shame
|
| |
i can't believe there is even debate on how much more Conan rules over everyone else. the guy had fucking dillinger on his show.
|
| |
I just watched the At The Drive-In performance on YouTube... Amazing... As is Conan.
|
| |
dont like the show, but they have had some good musical guests lately wish i had seen this post earlier
