Metallica Release Box Set

2009-04-15 by Bullitt | 27 Comments
Well it doesn't really come in a box, but starting on April 14 our entire discography will be available on iTunes as a "digital box set" so that for one price, you can download the entire catalog. What exactly does "entire catalog mean?" you ask . . . that would be 163 tracks including all the studio albums from Kill 'Em All up through Death Magnetic, S&M, Some Kind of Monster, the two tracks from Live From Live Earth, and "I Disappear" from the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack. Our little set here also includes the live tracks that were released as part of the album versions on iTunes: "The Four Horsemen," "Whiplash," "For Whom The Bell Tolls," "Creeping Death," "Battery," "The Thing That Should Not Be," "One," and "...And Justice For All."
iTunes will be the only place you can find the digital box set starting April 14, with your friendly other sites that you can download music from coming on board April 28.

That's really cool, there's probably no other way to get those songs that efficiently in digital form.

All my Metallica CDs are far away at home, I'll consider getting this. Will probably be too pricy though.

I think it's cool that bands do this sort of thing, particularly ones with large discographies, but really, who has that much money to spend on Metallica?

Seriously just download everything, if you like something a lot, then buy it on CD. Storing them like this is good enough if you want to spend on other hobbies of yours.

Innovative. For Metallica, that is.

Muse did this a few weeks ago. I wonder how successful these 'box sets' are.

I bet this is the price of all the other albums in addition to a service fee for putting them together for you.

Not worth 100$ bucks tbh. Buy Kill - Black and DM, download Load-Stanger.

Surely it's cheaper to get the CDs....most are on sale now anyway...and only the first 4 are really worth having!

none taken, but theres really no point in buying digital copies of music when you can easily get it for free. I can understand buying cds,(which I do a lot) because then you get a physical copy, with album art etc. But as far as just getting digital formats, theres much more sense in simply downloading something with the same quality that you would get for spending money through Itunes.

Hahaha, it'll leak (as if it didn't already without the exclusive tracks) and probably be organized in folders by album. Not really that incredible.
