New Black Dahlia Murder Member

The Black Dahlia Murder have chosen Ryan Knight (formerly of Arsis) as their replacement lead guitarist. Knight will fill the position of the recently departed John Kempainen, who abruptly left the fold before the start of the band's recent US tour.

The band also suffered an equipment loss recently after their bus & trailer fell victim to black ice.

This could be an interesting addition to the band, may mean an end to the same-y lead parts.

Ryan is an incredible guitarist, I've watched him from about 2 feet away multiple times and the dude never misses a note.

I'm pretty sure he's just a session musician for the road though, right? If he left Arsis I'm seriously pissed because the songs he wrote on WATN were really, really outstanding.

It could be just session, but from the way I read it, he was being announced as permanent. I could be wrong.

We'll see.

Yeah, he's leaving Arsis to join BDM.

What a waste of talent if he does join BDM.

Meh. Let's hope for some new solo's, seriously. At least Shannon Lucas is a beast...

Might want to edit this since you refer to him on second reference as McKnight. An end to samey lead parts might actually get me listening to this band again.

Thanks. Was clearly thinking of someone else the second time round.

Arsis, well imo, just isnt fun to listen to for me. I can respect it, but I have trouble enjoying it. Its good to know that TBDM's will be perhaps even better than the previous axe man. And it'll be interesting to here him play in a band i currently like.

BDM are really good, shame on those saying "waste of talent". This should be awesome, can't wait for the next album!

I expect their new CD to be a bunch of arpeggios and widdly widdly stuff now.

Hopefully they won't get a super loud drummer and mix them in terribly.

I agree that john's solo's were very repetitive after a while and yes i think this will be a good addition to a sick band.

Maybe. :P

i dont know what to say, as much as i like the old "same-y" guitarwork, im excited to see what this addition will bring forth. and it's about time for some (hopefully) change as their last 3 cds all sounded the same, minus better productino values

NOOOOOOO!!! Ryan kicked ass in Arsis, this blows. I like TBDM, but compared to Arsis they blow. WATN is such a sick album, i agree with the waste of talent comments. Ryan should have stayed with Arsis, the next album could have been mind blowing.
