Green Day Post Studio Video

2008-10-14 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 10 Comments
Green Day have confirmed rumours that they are recording an eighth studio album by posting a brief clip on their official Youtube page.

The video shows Billie Joe Armstrong strumming some chords as the camera pans to producer Butch Vig, who politely greets fans with a middle finger salute.

It's not quite clear yet at this stage in recording which direction the band may be taken in the post-American Idiot stage of their career, but nonetheless recording is in progress.

I really hope they avoid the "I didn't graduate from high school but I'm going to tell you how to think politically" motif and go back to what they know...although I did enjoy American Idiot.
...and out of curiosity, why did the youtube link change? I know the one I put was uk.youtube, but is there any significance?

Is it sad that I'm ashamed to admit that I loved American Idiot?
Either way, I'm quite looking forward to a new CD.

I hope they don't end up trying to make all of their fans happy instead of sticking to making good music.

It's good that they waited so long since AI, all that bullshit has blown over.

Lots of people like or liked American Idiot, there's no shame in it. The main problem is that it basically made them become the definition of "mature" pop punk/punk rock, which is very much a love/hate thing. I love it, American Idiot was one of my first albums, but that's just me.
I can't really tell what I think just from hearing a few clips, but the solo-ish bit (I think) sounded interesting. We'll just have to wait and see I guess...This Message Edited On 10.15.08

I'm intrigued to see where they go with the new stuff.
I enjoyed American Idiot, but it was a bit preachy, hoping they go back towards some of their older, fun material. This Message Edited On 10.15.08
