thats bad news

lol no thanks

So, Dee Snider is telling us that the Alterbridge singer is joining a reformed Led Zeppelin. Is there anything good about any of that?
|
| |
It's not gonna be Zep this way. But ultimately, Myles Kennedy does sing the shit out of Robert Plant, so I'm not too fussed.
|
| |
ive never heard the guy sing but chances are he's not even close to plant in skill
|
| |
he restrains himself in alterbridge but in his previous band he had quite a voice, similar to chris cornell in range
|
| |
He is a pretty good singer...never heard him sing any zep though.
|
| |
Dee Snider should actually front Led Zepplin. He'd be a perfect fit and we all know how much of a b.a Dee is. I raise my glass in hopes of Dee emerging victorious. This Message Edited On 10.09.08

The only thing I am surprised to see is that it wasn't CreamCrazy who posted this bulletin.
|
| |
I've seen him sing a weird version of Kashmir, but damn can he sing.
|
| |
Oh and he sings Rock n Roll great too.
|
| |
Oh dear.
|
| |
Are people so desperate for a Led Zeppelin reunion that they're willing to settle for this?
|
| |
I wouldn't really call it a Led Zep reunion...it's more like Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones...and two other guys...although one is a legacy. And yes...people will settle for this.
|
| |
Lol at the emo-ness.
It's just a rumor. And contrary to what the majority seem to think, Kennedy can really fucking sing. It's kind of sad that a classic rock band is being treated more like a religion than music.
|
| |
It's not gonna be Zep this way. But ultimately, Myles Kennedy does sing the **** out of Robert Plant, so I'm not too fussed.
Unless you consider things like skill, emotion, performance & originality...then yes...he is better than Plant.
Myles sounds like any other singer I'd hear if I turn on the radio.
|
| |
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.
Example: Kennedy has a higher range than "normal singers on the radio".
Kennedy is a good singer but like others have stated, it just seems like hearsay.
|
| |
Robert Plant was never about "sounding good" or singing notes. And I think that picking a singer based on their voice alone is a huge mistake.
|
| |
Agreed^ If they decide to write new material chances are it's gonna sound overproduced and unnatural.
|
| |
There's only one person fit to sing for Zeppelin...
... Scott Stapp
|
| |
All I have to say for this even though it's just a rumor at this point is... MAKE IT HAPPEN! I know Rob Plant is their only known singer, but Myles right now can outsing Plant on Zeppelin songs, & Plant said he won't tour for them. SO GET MYLES IN NOW.
All of those who said he can't sing, better look at part of Alter Bridge's cover of Led Zep's Kashmir, which has been played on their recent tour. Myles has the voice for Zeppelin & this for me is proof

I'm with Balls on this one. Dee Snider for Zeppelin.
|
| |
Ohh lulz, Alter Bridge.
|
| |
whose more of douchebag, robert plant or tom delounge?
|
| |
get a singer from a Led Zeppelin tribute band. they can hit the notes Robert can't anymore.
|
| |
" whose more of douchebag, robert plant or tom delounge? "
BOTH...
|
| |
There's only one person fit to sing for Zeppelin...
... Scott Stapp word
|
| |
holy crap, in the video creamcrazy sent, this guy sounds exactly like Plant but better, maybe this won't be bad
|
| |
Of course I am not that objective on this on cause I am a huge AB fan! But trust me guys, Myles sings the .... out of all the current rock singers nowadays and he's such a nice person. Met him severl times.
Get your own oppinion!

Myles is an exceptional singer.
But Scott Stapp would be my choice here.
"It's beeeeen a long time-ah since I rock and-ah rollll!"
|

Some one said this in one of the other led zep news things, Geddy Lee all the way
|
| |
seriously?
Who wants to see Zeppelin without all original members?
The only reason we put up with anyone else on drums is because Bonham is dead. It's a fair enough excuse. Hard to drum in his condition. And everyone knows they will never replace him so they just do their best in his absence and everyone accepts it. Fine.
But why would you be interested if you knew Bonham was alive and choosing not to do it? Same goes for all members.
It kills the legitimacy.
But then much as I worship them, Zeppelin have always been comeback/remaster whores. I guess I'll just keep listening to the originals and having my world rocked.
I keep trying to explain what I mean and failing.
Basically, Zeppelin without one original member is almost b*****ks but we put up with it because we have no choice. Zeppelin without two original members is definitely b*****ks. When that second member is CHOOSING not to be there then it's double cheese sweaty b*****ks with crusty bits and pickles.

did you just censor the word "bollocks" ?This Message Edited On 10.09.08

Whats with the deeper-voiced singer trend going on here...seems to constrast Plant's just a tad.
|
| |
Myles sings a million times better than plant.
|
| |
"Unless you consider things like skill, emotion, performance & originality...then yes...he is better than Plant.
Myles sounds like any other singer I'd hear if I turn on the radio"
This coming from someone who likes the white stripes. You just lost all credibility in this conversation.
|
| |
how does him liking a band with a generic singer make his opinion on Myles being generic any less legitimate?
|
| |
they should just get dee to do it
|
| |
It doesn't, but the point is moot anyway because Myles isn't a generic singer. Sadly, the full range of his voice isn't taken advantage of with Alter Bridge. Anybody basing their opinion on how this will turn out because they are only briefly familiar with him through this band do not realise just why he is actually being considered to replace Plant.
It will not move mountains, and a lot of the appeal is lost with two of the original members missing but Myles will more then stand up to the job.
|

well from the little I head of him, the guy definitely has chops This Message Edited On 10.11.08

so basically this is going to be the led zeppelin karaoke tour
|
| |
Why doesn't Page just call Terry Reid, his original choice for Zeppelin in the first place, at least that would have some credibility.
|
| |
Myles Kennedy is awesome. Not sure if it'll happen, but, he COULD do it. Easily.
Listen for yourself...
(a little bit of audience banter, an AC/DC tease, before going into a great Zep cover..)

Robert Plant you stubborn asscrack, tour with your fucking band!
|
| |
robert plant was and still is pretty damn amazing, but he's not joining back. myles kennedy is definitely one of the best singers today, his four octave range is ridiculous and he's a great guitar player. never was much of a fan but after seeing alter bridge a while back, he's my favorite musician today and if anybody should get the privilege to front zeppelin, kennedy wont let no one down for show
