Pink Floyd Keyboardist Dies

2008-09-15 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 56 Comments
Pink floyd keyboardist Richard Wright has died following a long battle with cancer.

A founding member of the group, Wright performed with Pink Floyd at 2005's Live 8 reunion and appeared on all but one of the group's albums, having being forced to resign before the recording of 1982's The Final Cut.

He was 65.

This is a sad day in the history of music. A legendary musician from a legendary band...probably the greatest band ever. He was a driving force and seems to be a really good man. Rest in Peace Richard. We'll never forget you

:'(
Rick was such an underrated musician. Just as integral to Pink Floyd's sound as both Roger and David.
'Remember a Day', 'Great Gig In the Sky' and 'Wearing the Inside Out' are some of my favourite Floyd tracks, and all penned by him.

I'm not much of a fan of Pink Floyd, but given his contribution & musical talent to
such a highly regarded band & the evolvement of British Music as a whole, I feel
sad that he's died. I'm listening to Dark Side Of The Moon right now, & I can
clearly hear the what his keyboard & piano playing as well as lyrical talents had on
Pink Floyd's sound

A person I know & her husband love Pink Floyd to death, they've seen them live in
almost every decade they've been an active band, I'm sure they're very upset right
now.

well, this is bad news but it's not like it was a tragedy, he wasn't exactly young, and the glory days of Pink Floyd have been over for 30 years now. He was a terrific musician and has inspired some of my favorite albums, but I can't say I'm incredibly sad over this, I enjoy Pink Floyd, but his musical days are over now and its it's not like there would have been any great new Pink Floyd records that will never see the light of day with his death. But still, Rest in peace Rick
