Scar Symmetry Vocalist Out

2008-09-11 by BallsToTheWall | 40 Comments
A few months ago we decided to part ways with Christian. The reasons are mainly the clichéd "business and creative differences" and lack of interpersonal chemistry. We came to a point where the band's existence was in jeopardy because of these differences, and the only way for us to continue with an inspired state of mind was to go through with this change in the line-up.

This should come as a total surprise to most of you, though you might have wondered why no gigs/tours have been announced since the release of "Holographic Universe". The truth is, we have been offered several tours and one-off shows that everyone in the band wanted to do except for Christian. In a situation like that you get a lot of frustration and it was in everyone's best interest to go separate ways.

We started Scar Symmetry just for the fun of it, never with the idea of becoming hugely successful or whatever. Now, three albums into our career, we've toured both Europe and North America, our latest CD made it to Billboard's Top Heatseekers' chart and we've enjoyed success way beyond our expectations. Needless to say, the situation for us as a band has changed since we started playing together in 2004 and the band is bigger than ever. We had the choice to either take a step back with Christian in the band or a step forward without him. The band will announce the replacement singer in short time.

Talk about a swift kick in the balls. This is certainly an unexpected blow but the replacement singer better be almost, just as, or even more talented vocally than him.

Thank fucking god. Vocals were awful and now I might be able to tolerate this mediocre band a bit more.

Your post is a web of lies Wizard. Same goes to fire. However, new vocalist had better be good. Also, how had somebody not posted a picture for the band although since the singer is gone it kind of defeats the purpose. Nonetheless, i'll edit again when they found a new singer. This Message Edited On 09.11.08

This is fine by me, my ex friggin loved these guys but his clean vocals were always unbearable to me.

the vocals were def the best part about this band. a new Miseration album is already in the works so, i doubt it will come out sooner because of this. he has enough other bands to keep himself busy, too bad he ended up leaving the most successful one.

son of a BITCH! thats really sucks, the vocals made this band stick out for me big time. the new vocalist should sound just like him or better, if not the band is F in the A...unless they change there sound.

His clean vocals did sound a *little* poppy at times, but really, who cares. He was fantastic, and it f*cking sucks he's gone.

well this is a pretty big blow to Scar Symmetry. Their last outing was pretty weak tho IMO, maybe Christian had something to do with that. Regardless, he was a pretty ridiculous melo-death singer and it's sorta sad seein' him go

I'm gonna have to jump on the bandwagon here and say that a big part of scar symmetry have died without him there now... I suppose they wouldn't be worth listening to now as new vocalists in bands usually tend to disappoint me.

But who knows? We may all be very surprised!

This band no longer matters to me, because I really doubt the replacement will be as good.

Let's not get all pessimistic about this beforehand now. I hold some hope.

The guy was pure auto-tune and pitch correction. Sounded fine but he was hardly an irreplaceable talent.

123 with Cocaine. Even Akerfeldt's replacable because Egan O Rourke from Daylight Dies can do what he does, almost or just as smoothly. Talented vocalists aren't that uncommon to find but i'm hoping they pick up a suitable voice. If you want proof with life after death with a great vocalist just look at Amorphis.

Most will say Miseration first but fuck that. Torchbearer all the away. He's the lead guitarist and the heaviest(best) side project of his, than Miseration and Incapacity where he plays guitar and vocals. He's also like in three to four other bands I know little about such as Quest of Aidance.

can dan swano sing melodeath? I mean, he is great and all, but scar symmetry? they would have to become a completely different band.

Maybe he could make them more progressive... like a melodic edge of sanity (drools at the thought of it)
