I posted this same thing but it never got put up. They're also going on a co-headlining tour with All That Remains.
By the way the song was actually pretty good.
|
| |
I agree. The song was surprisingly good actually.
All That Remains is touring again? Have they already released a new album? This Message Edited On 07.31.08

I think they have a release date set for sep/aug.

No ATR new album comes out in September.
Guess you got to it before I did Jacktiger. This Message Edited On 07.31.08

Sounds better than their old stuff.
|
| |
I couldn't stand that song. Their riffs are stupid and boring, and Heafy's vocals are downright laughable.
|
| |
im not signing shit just to hear the song
|
| |
found it on youtube, and god heafy has taken his vocals to a whole new level of sucktitude.
Intro kind of reminded me of Keep of Kalessin though, which wasn't bad, but that gang shout totally ruined it.
|
| |
the song was horrible. i dont see where its any better than the Crusade. also the vocals that are really bad are done by Corey not Matt (even though Matt's vocals didnt get any better). i wish they would stop thinking they were Metallica or Maiden and just go back to what they did best on Ascendancy

I dislike Trivium, but this song is actually pretty good. Matt Heafy isn't trying to sound like Hetfield which is a good thing. However its just a matter of time until we find out which songs Trivium stole the riffs from.

Heafy's vocals aren't that bad, but they aren't good either.
This is superior to anything else Trivium has done, so I am happy.
|
| |
nah pretty much everything on Ascendancy shits all over this
|
| |
Wow, this was worse than I expected.
|
| |
Vocals are better then Crusade but worse then Ascendancy IMO.
If all songs are like this I think the vocals would be bearable, though it seems even Corey has lost his scream from Ascendancy and instead does a sort of .. hoarse yell.
|
| |
I really enjoyed that.
|
| |
Ascendancy > Single > Crap > The Crusade
|
| |
heafy's vocals suck so bad it makes me lol
this will suck majorly im predicting
|
| |
his vocals improved from the crusade, i can stand the singing and screaming but that yelling is so bad...
|
| |
What in the blue hell is up with the artwork?
Just got through the song once....it blows epically. This Message Edited On 07.31.08

This is prety meh, Shogun seems like it might just be a crusade copy with some 'heavy' vocals thrown in. Speaking of which...
Beaulieu's 'heavy' vocals sound constipated, seriously.

surprisingly good song.
|
| |
much more epic than anythinng on "the crusade". I'll reserve judgement until I hear the whole thing, but it is an improvement.
|
| |
song is ok some good part but some of his vox are laffable i agree but it is enjoyable
|
| |
Was pretty good, but Im not a fan of the vocals. Might check it out.
|
| |
It's like Metallica with shit vocals added on. For some reason, I'm not surprised. I guess it's a little better than the songs on the Crusade, but still has no definition, and there are still random melody changes that don't make sense.
|
| |
Shite song.
The 'he who walks fire breathes' syncopation was a direct rip from Damage Inc's 'dealing out the agony....' line.
To top it off it sounded horribly pro-tooled.
Oh well, didn't expect anything anyway, it's Trivium.
They'll have a whole load of 12-20 year olds cum over their stuff and that'll be that.
|
| |
It's like Metallica with **** vocals added on.
Which means it's exactly like Metallica, right?
|
| |
good song.
I don't know why there is so much hatred towards this band. I can see the comparison with Metallica but you can compare any band to another. get past it and focus on the song itself. chances are you may not like it regardless but be open to something and don't ignore it for silly reasons like that.
|
| |
Wow, that really wasn't too bad. The guitar riffs were surprisingly good. The singing is the only bad part. I really wish he would lay off the Hetfield routine.
|
| |
Riffs were less reliant on open E string, singing was expectedly atrocious. Songwriting was still predictable as hell. Didn't change my mind on this band.
|
| |
are they downtuning?
|
| |
The guitar riffs were surprisingly good.
They went all Dragonforce on us by sounding like everything else they've done.
|
| |
It isn't fair! Triivium's album artowrk is always sick as hell! Although they almost deserve based on that song. It was pretty good minus the vocals. Kind of awkward tempo changes though.
|
| |
Sounded like an asshole, Ember to Inferno>>Ascendancy
|
| |
That was so much better than the Crusade, this regular yelling vocals are still horrid, but his screaming is solid, and so is his singing. Still draged a bit at the start
|
| |
First, he sounds nothing James Hetfield. Secondly, it is a good song and hope the direction isn't as jagged and misplaced as with The Crusade and more focused. Personally, this is one of Triviums better songs and certainly the only song since stuff from Ascendancy I listened to more than once. If they improved on the "guttural" sounding vocals that would help. Not to say I'll be picking up the album, but I am willing to give it a shot and hear whatever does come up on their MySpace or what-have-you.
|
| |
I dont think he sounds much like Hetfield. Everyone has a different voice, and I dont think he's TRYING to sound like Hetfield. Maybe thats simply the best he can sound with his voice?
He's a baritone isn't he?
I do sort of wish that if he has to do clean vocals that they were more like off of "Dying In Your Arms"
|
| |
OMG, I laiughed so hard at that group chant.
And wtf is up with the vocals???
Travis throws in some nice drumming though.
|
| |
Better than the crusade. Riffing wasn't too bad. But vocals are meh
|
| |
Hmmm....I'm not to sure about this one.
The drumming was all over the place (listen to the double kick in the first verse/fist lot of screaming, it just sounds messy..intentional ,maybe) and nothing new, shame because Travis is a seriously good Drummer.
Bass is pretty much unheard again. Why don't they listen to Come Clarity By In Flames for inspiration of how to make the bass hard AND sound interesting? >.< I just want to hear the Bass for once.
The main riff smacks of Pro Tools, but that solo is better than anything done on The Crusade and shows some serious promise.
Now on to the vocals.
The screaming at the start just sounds awkward (I know it's Corey in that part).
Matt never was a good screamer to begin with but here's hoping the rest of the album has some better range.
He has stopped the overt metallica vocals but that's his normal range,(limited, yes) at least he has brought some of the singing style from Ascendancy back (as layered and over-produced as they sound).
I give it an 8/10
|
| |
This song is absolutely crap, just like the band.
|
| |
Vocals were annoying, decent instrumentation though. Great solo.
|
| |
if heafy stopped with the vocals and they got a legit lead singer they would be better.
|
| |
the artwork is awful!
|
| |
sputnik users judge music before they even hear it, because this is alot better than The crusade and a lot of the songs on Ascendancy.
any band that releases a 7 minute single about mythical japanese ghosts with a chorus that goes 'i'll take their fucking heads' is at least passable in my book.
the screams never bugged me, then again i hate screaming and am all about the gutteral, so whatever.
yeah about an 8/10 so far.
|
| |
For what it is, I'm pretty surprised. They sound a lot better as a unit it seems...The guitar lines are actually pretty nice.
|
| |
Listened to the song twice. Did nothing good for my ears. And Heafy has now completed his morph into James Hetfield!
|
| |
i haven't heard much of trivium ..but hearing this song..in the first few minutes i must say he does sound like Hetfield ..definitely....but so does Sully Erna of Godsmack(sometimes )
|
| |
he does sound like Hetfield ..definitely....but so does Sully Erna of Godsmack(sometimes ) Yes and so do many many other vocalists. Yet Trivium is the only of being bashed for it. Great song by the way, I shall be buying this album when it's released
|
| |
Ever thought they might sound the same (Matt Heafy, James Hetfield, Sully Erna) all because they're baritone?
I'm a baritone and I can sing like Hetfield, but if I try to go higher I don't sound all that great, so maybe Heafy is in the same situation as I am?
|

They all have natural low voices, well put. Matt Heafy can't help but have a low voice, and people are calling his efforts "selling out?" Thats like making fun of a crippled kid. That kid couldn't help it, could he?
|
| |
He completely sounds like Hetfield if you consider sounding like him as not sounding like him.
Hetfield doesn't try to do death screaming/growling, sorry.
Your certainly right about the death screaming/ growling thing, but his angsty singing makes me think I'm listening to Hetfield. Sorry, can't help it.
|
| |
is it just me or does his scream just sound completely dry?
and he is completely forcing it? idk maybe just me
|
| |
my ears...my ears...
this sounded decent at first, but i cant let the fact that the singer sounds almost identical to Hetfeild go by.
the screams are the worst i've ever heard and are like nails on a chalkboard to listen to.
trivium is just not cut out for what they're trying to do.
If the singer at least tempted to sound original, maybe they would have a shot, but i dunno.
|
| |
Better than Crusade but still sub-par. The vocal yell at 0:53 made me choke on my drink, I mean seriously what the fuck were they thinking putting that in?
|
| |
wow...that was better than expected.
|
| |
well that was good actualy.good to hear heafy screamin again.
|
| |
heafy screaming like shit
|
| |
to me trivium has always been an average band (yes, ascendancy is as average as the crusade in my opinion) they have a lot of room to improve.
This new song is halfway between average and good.
|
| |
I can't believe people actually think these vocals sound like metallica vocals. If anything it sounds more like Testament...not Metallica.
|
| |
the song is okay but oh lord those vocals are HORRENDOUSly bad. jesus.
|
| |
I can't believe people actually think these vocals sound like metallica vocals. If anything it sounds more like Testament...not Metallica.
I can certainly see that a bit, I mean when he does he clean/scream combination. But Heafy is just an outright plagiariser, that I think we can all agree on.
|
| |
Mundane.
I was one of these listeners who embraced Trivium when they first came onto the scene with ember to inferno, and started tuning out when the kids constructed their shrine to them. I actually thought most of the crusade was alright, especially the title track. I downloaded the tune during the free day and I've given it a few listens now and to be honest its fairly bland. I thought the crusade was progressive with the riffs but i feel as though heafy's brought back screaming just because all the haters took him down when he was "singing".
The kids will love it.
