Cynic Album Title & Teaser Vid 2008-07-25 by Trey STAFF | 16 Comments | Reunited progressive metallers Cynic — whose 1993 album "Focus" is regarded as a landmark release in the field of technical/progressive metal — have set "Traced In Air" as the title of their new album, due on October 27 via Season of Mist Records. Returning from the "Focus" era for the new eight-song, 35-minute effort are are founding members Paul Masvidal (guitars/clean vocals) and Sean Reinert (drums) along with Sean Malone (bass), and joining the band in the studio is newcomer Tymon Kruidenier (guitars/growls). The band recorded the effort at a California studio with producer Warren Riker (DOWN, SANTANA).
Guitarist/vocalist Paul Masvidal previously stated about the new CD: "We've been on an amazing journey discovering this new music and soon it will be yours. Expect the unexpected. The album is an intensely concentrated mosaic of internal and external energies, from the deepest peace to the purest aggression. There's an acquired taste that comes with a record of this density, but once your ears wrap themselves around the language at work, everything falls into place and suddenly you'll feel a sudden urge to sing, scream or maybe even cry. The album has a beginning, middle and end. The story will reveal itself after numerous listens and then you may not want to let go. Besides Reinert and I, Tymon brought some new life force and magic to the record with fierce growling and poetic guitar sensibilities. Malone also did a fine job with the low end, grooving away with Reinert in a pocket land from hell!

How do you figure? Blabbermouth has it listed with today's date and their ****ing Record Label just released the information yesterday. The video has been around for 2 weeks. In fact i think it was already posted as news on this site. The only "news" is the Oct 27 release date and the fact that its 35 minutes. They have already said it will be 8 tracks
| | | It does sound pretty righteous, but they don't really have the vintage sound that all the 90s tech death bands had; it sounds more modern than "old school" is I guess what I'm trying to say. Still sounds good though.
| | | I have all 3 of those songs btw. They came out in a promo I downloaded a long time ago.
It's 320 kbps. I can upload it anytime if you guys want.
| | | I was hoping for a slightly better title, but i know Cynic will not disappoint otherwise so im still utterly psyched.
| | | I thought that was the title since the video was called that, would have been right when i didn't know what i was talking about
| | | I'm so stoked for this
| | | This and Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder are being released on the same day. I'll probably end up getting both.
| | | awesome!
