Unearth talk about new album

2008-06-18 by ninjuice | 23 Comments
Massachusetts metalcore outfit Unearth have recently begun work on their next full-length album, reportedly due out in October. They are already in studio tracking guitar and drum parts, working with producer Adam Dutkiewicz and drummer Derek Kerswill.

Lead guitarist Buz McGrath had this to say:

Quote:
HEAVY METAL SHRED MAYHEM! NOW WITH 50% MORE GUITAR SOLOS!! If the new Unearth songs were laundry detergent, then this is what it would say on the box. Fortunately for all you metal maniacs, it’s not laundry soap but a mind-blowing journey consisting of epic mosh and shred, so we had to call in the one man who could wrangle such a massive beast — Adam Dutkiewicz. We are very excited to be working with him again and between 40 oz. chugging and doing burn-outs in Ken’s ‘82 Corvette, we are recording what will definitely be the best album of our career.

A video of the band at work in the studio can be accessed at their Myspace, and more info is said to made available in the coming weeks.

working with producer Adam Dutkiewicz

They should use a different producer. I do enjoy some of his records quite a bit, but I fear they are going to make the same record twice.

Would you like to hear the same god damn record made over and over again? I rest my case.

I hope this is a little better than their last album, which put me to sleep at times.

I agree it had some fantastic songs, but most of the latter half of the album seemed way too heavy for the sake of heavy and fast for the sake of fast, not too much grabbed me.

Album was so overhyped and had some really generic breakdowns in it. Still a good album despite my negs.

Can we have Mike Justian back please?

Probably will check this out though; see what the new drummer can come up with.

Trevor really, really, really needs to work on his vocals. They were weak on The Oncoming Storm, and just plain shitty on their last album.

And they need to stop it with that breakdown shit. I don't care what any of their fucking fanboys say, their breakdowns are as plain as the new Opeth album. Yeah, fuck that album as well.

The only band that should have a breakdown in every song is All Shall Perish.

Trevor, WORK ON YOUR VOCALS!!!!! And maybe I will give this a listen.

I think Unearth peaked on their last album. I don't think there is anywhere for them to go but down. Stylistically speaking, they didn't leave themselves enough room to evolve and progress, its just going to be more fast drums, cool riffs, and mediocre vocals.

Lol, Adam D is a great producer and i can't wait to hear this album. Unearth are one of the sickest metal bands around today. I think perhaps Killswitch should change producer for their next album and see how it sounds without Adam producing it.
