In a sad attempt at competing with Chinese Democracy
The jokes in the news section lately have been ridiculously funny. I won't be surprised in the least if this album sucks donkey balls.
|
| |
Maybe this will never come out.
I could care less what happens.
|
| |
Hopefully^^^. They need to just stop making music.
|
| |
I love how the release date for chinese democracy on the GNR page is 3007
lulz
and yeah this will never come outThis Message Edited On 01.23.08

I still want this released... though Im not expecting anything fantastic. I have to hear it since I think they wrote one of the finest metal records ever, Ride the Lightning.
MOP fanboys can shut up.
|
| |
That is severely funny.
And I agree with wizard on the jokes thing. They've been top quality recently.
|
| |
Now this album won't ever come out.
It better though, because I know it can top St. Anger
|
| |
don't they have the songs written already? how much longer can it take?! but ya, hopefully its not delayed any further I wanna hear this
|
| |
theres a response. to this.

A representative for METALLICA's management has responded to a report on StereoWarning.com which claimed that "sources from the band's record label" have said that the group's new album has "been delayed again" to a September release. The representative told The Pulse of Radio that the disc has not been "delayed" since there "has never been an actual release date." As for when the record was likely to surface, the representative said, "It will be out when it's ready."
METALLICA began working on its ninth studio album in 2006. Since then the group has taken its time to write and record the new disc, but drummer Lars Ulrich told The Pulse of Radio it isn't hard to stay inspired even 25 years into the band's career. "I don't use the word 'career,' 'hunger,' I use more words like 'fun,'" he said. "As long as we keep it fun for ourselves and keep it kind of manageable, the days of the word 'career' and the business and, I don't know, it just seems kind of part of the past. Now it's just about, like, having fun and wanting to do it. You know, as long as it doesn't turn into too much work, it's not hard to be inspired."
METALLICA has been recording the new album with producer Rick Rubin after ending a 15-year collaboration with Bob Rock.
The new METALLICA CD will follow up 2003's controversial "St. Anger".
As late as last October, Ulrich said in interviews that he expected the new album to arrive in February of 2008.
METALLICA has booked a number of European festival appearances starting in late May, although it has yet to schedule any North American dates.
Fucking laughed out loud when I read that St. Anger was controversial. Probably because their fans wanted to rip their heads off for making such a god awful album.
|
| |
I have wanted them to release this album for ages now. St. Anger was fairly poor but showed potential for some decent stuff.
However the longer they put this back, the more people are just going to forget about them
|
| |
I think you have it backwards. No one has forgotten about Chinese Democracy, have they? This is almost like reverse psychology hahahaha. They are using this to almost hype up a 'for sure' failure.
|
| |
well, this doesnt suprise me...at all
|
| |
I don't want them to release another MOP or RTL, I just want them to top St. Anger and stop themselves from completely ruining their legacy.
|
| |
they haven't been very good, ever. And I couldn't care less if this came out or not. Would be funnier if it didn't.
|
| |
yeah they're legacy is over
|
| |
what a shame
|
| |
GOOD!
|
| |
Ouch that is a long time to wait
|
| |
This is why Metallica will not be remembered well in hindsight. Metallica kept making music, getting progressively more and more mediocre. To attain music immortality you have to either break up (the Beatles) or die (Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, 2pac) while you are in your prime.
|
| |
I predict this album will be their 5th best, far below the first four, barely above the last four
|
| |
they weren't really in their prime when cliff died though
|
| |
First thing I thought when I saw the title:
"You've gotta be fucking kidding me."
|
| |
Even though I haven't really liked any of their stuff since ...and Justice for All, I'm looking forward to this.
|
| |
If Hetfield just lays one big fart on the cd, it would have more replay value for me than St. Anger...lol...
|
| |
Agreed Pebster49!

I can't really say I agree with you. Their first four albums will be revered by metalheads for decades (at the very least) to come.
|
| |
I don't think he means Metallica won't be remembered at all, he means Metallica won't be remembered well. The first few albums were fantastic, but what a lot of people will remember is 'oh, they were good, but then they became crap'.
|
| |
as long as this album doesn't sound like it was mixed by some kind of deaf moron, it should be a step up from st. anger. they've got rid of bob rock haven't they? that'll surely be a bonus, he seemed to curb their thrash leanings
|
| |
Sooo Gutted (sarcasm)
not bothered in the slightest. Metallica are one of the most overrated bands ever. and justice... was ok though
|
| |
When I bought their first 4 albums about 5 years ago, I really enjoyed them and thought they were amazing. Now that I have been exposed to so much music from that time period, I've lost interest in them altogether.
|
| |
soon as the album drops we're going to hear Lar's mid atlantic whine EVERYWHERE.....No rush guys no rush This Message Edited On 01.24.08

"At this pace Metallica's 9th studio record is shaping up to be metal's most anticipated release of 2009. "
... Wait, anticipated? Did I miss something?
|
| |
^^^LOL ouch.
Honestly, I would love to see Metallica put down one more good set of songs before they're fingers cramp up and they can't play anymore. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are metal masterpieces. As much as Metallica has pissed me off over the last...decade...or two...it'd be nice so see them go out with a bang instead of a BOOOO! lol
|
| |
I don't mean to pop your optimistic bubble AngelPhoenix, Metallica will fail again. But I would love to see them achieve this as well. You are still the coolest new user! HERO!
|
| |
After this im now not going to buy this record. Yes that is my attempt at a boycott, in all seriousness, this 'snowball effect' theyre tyring to create isnt working.
Its like the Sony PS3 and GTA: IV, the hype will get bigger the longer its left, but eventually it will start to fall apart and there will be small interest left.
This shouldve been released a long time ago.
|
| |
^^ You have figured out their plan.

Yeah, but the difference is, GTA IV will still smash sales records like a giant monkey with sledgehammer. Metallica will much more closely resemble the condition of the records GTA will smash lol.
|
| |
^^^^I feel sorry for people who will buy this album hahahaha. We all know its going to suck some serious balls.
