2006-06-08 by Oddsen | 13 Comments
Billy Preston, known for playing keyboard with Ray Charles, Little Richard, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles, died on
June 6, 2006 in Arizona of malignant hypertension that caused a kidney failure. He had been fighting Kidney disease
for much of his later years and had been in a coma for a few months.

Hear is a list of some recordings he played on
"Get Back"-The Beatles
Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street-The Rolling Stones
Reptile-Eric Clapton
All Things Must Pass-George Harrison
"Warlocks"-The Red Hot Chili Peppers

How did he record Warlocks in a coma?

He wasn't in a coma dawg. He was very ill, but apparently jumped out of bed when he heard the tapes, recorded his part, then returned to his humble domain to further recurperate. Word up.
Preston played clavinet on the song "Warlocks" for the Red Hot Chili Peppers album Stadium Arcadium released in 2006. Although very ill, he jumped out of bed after hearing a tape of the song given to him by the band, recorded his part, and went back to bed [1]. Preston's final contribution was playing Gospel-tinged organ on the Neil Diamond album, 12 Songs.
He was in a coma, but not in the very end, apparently.
