Queen Release New Single

2007-11-30 by Aakon_Keetreh | 8 Comments
Queen have announced the band's first new recording in 10 years, reports Lep.co.uk. Queen and new frontman Paul Rodgers are to release the single, Say It's Not True, on Saturday.

Recorded to mark World Aids Day, it will be available as a free download.

Queen's Roger Taylor, who wrote the song, said: "By making the song available for free, we hope to help Nelson Mandela with his campaign to get across the message that no-one is safe from infection.

"We have to be aware, we have to protect ourselves and those we love.

"The song follows the line of Mr Mandela's personal message 'It's in our own hands to bring a stop to this'."

Queen's last studio recording took place in 1997 when May, Taylor and bassist John Deacon reunited to record No-One But You, released in 1998, in tribute to former frontman Freddie Mercury, who died of an Aids-related illness in 1991.

Without Freddie, there is no Queen. These guys are a cover band.

Dude, if Roger is doing it, then it's Queen. He LOVED Freddy, I think he wanted to be Freddy, if not be WITH him. Plus he wrote the catchiest tunes...

edit: wrong, I am stupid and wrong... I was thinking John was gonna come out of hiding... saw drummer thought bassist... so wrong, I redact, F this... anyway, Freddie didn't even want to tell people he HAD HIV so is queen really the best spokesband for AIDS AWARENESS?This Message Edited On 11.30.07

I totally respect Brian and Roger. There is nothing disrespectful to Freddie in what they are doing. This is totally cool. The video for "say it's not true" is here.

No Freddie Mercury, no Queen. That's all I'm gonna say.
