The music is nice, the lyrics are lol

I don't remember 90s Maynard agreeing to disagree with anyone
|
| |
"The music is nice, the lyrics are lol"
...so the same as the last song then? XD

9/11 ruined this band

I quite like these two new songs but the weird thing is the drums are so dickless. Normally Josh Freese kills it but on both of these the drums are just kinda... there.
|
| |
One of the biggest downward spirals in quality, from a previously great band, that I can recall for a good while. I thought their last album was dreadful.
|
| |
Eat the elephant was and always will be the biggest disappointment of any album released in my lifetime. Holy shit it was bad.
|
| |
Track's a snoozer.
|
| |
Maynard’s lyrics were never this bad before were they?
|
| |
"Maynard’s lyrics were never this bad before were they?"
I've maintained for a long time that Maynard is not an inspired lyricist. He benefits from the music sounding smart so it makes his thoughts appear more intellectual just by association. His stuff is heavily referential so most of his songwriting credit should go to the people whose ideas he regurgitates as his own. The Anthony Kiedis of progressive rock.
|
| |
He used to be good. He's clearly more interested in wine now and he doesn't put any effort into his lyrics now that hes not angry at world. All he has left to do is complain about social media and politics.
TLDR: boomers gonna boom
|
| |
His lyrics have often been funny to me, so I wouldn't say it's new.
|
| |
guess there's a lotta people for whom it doesn't concern
|
| |
Doesn't even have to be boomers booming. It's musicians living comfortably, writing passively about hardships that they are only audience to. The worst sort of pandering.
|
| |
you lied to me
so I died to you
a new plane of existence
no pride for me
turn the tide to you
an unreachable distance
There, just wrote a Tool song.
|
| |
Then you need the song to close with Maynard just repeating the same 4 words over and over again.
you lied to me
so I died to you
a new plane of existence
no pride for me
turn the tide to you
an unreachable distance
losing to time
losing to time
what if it's mine
losing to time
|
| |
rude!
|
| |
Honestly, not bad lyrics lol.
|
| |
oops

"It's musicians living comfortably, writing passively about hardships that they are only audience to."
Sometimes he still hits, IMO. The highlights on the last Tool album were definitely up there with their best (but at least 50% floundering). Thing is, he... they... have been majority successful for at least half their time on Earth; yeah, it'd be near impossible to relate to things in the manner when they were out to make a name for themselves (or even their crossover state around the end of their first decade... circa 2000).
Different proposition, really...
|
| |
"we used to talk to each other, now we have phones >: ("
deeeeeeep message bro
|
| |
is that a Maynard lyric?
|
| |
impossible to relate

Oh fuck I think I just Maynard

^ You can't just take my words and Maynard...! He rich, dammit! I want royalties!
