U2 Bring a Carnival of Light 2026-09-25 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 12 Comments | U2 have announced their sixteenth studio album, Carnaval de Luz, due November 13 through Island Records.
Produced by Jacknife Lee, the twelve-track release is their first full-length collection of new material since 2017's Songs of Experience. Its announcement coincides with the band's fiftieth anniversary.
Following July's Street of Dreams, new single Silencio draws on early surf-punk and features additional production from Ryan Tedder. Its video was filmed in Mexico City by directing duo Cliqua, comprising Pasqual Gutiérrez and Raúl "RJ" Sanchez.
The album explores spirituality, friendship, freedom and resilience, emerging from the same creative period as this year's Days of Ash and Easter Lily EPs.
Guests include Rosalia on The Mirror Maker and Dolly Parton on closing track Torn. According to the band's announcement, the latter contains Parton's final recorded vocal performance. Brian Eno, Martin Garrix and Daniel Lanois also contribute.
The tracklist is:
1. Go (Carnaval de Luz)
2. La Reina
3. Street of Dreams
4. The Mirror Maker (Rosalia)
5. Superficiality
6. If the World Is at War We Better Not Be
7. Silencio
8. The Greatest Show on Earth
9. Glorify
10. Midnight Sunshine
11. Can't Stop Us Now
12. Torn (featuring Dolly Parton)

Why is U2 trying to do a latin thing?
Street of Dreams was boring, a little scared to listen to this one.

Why is that an album cover

For how old they are, this song and video are actually pretty cool. I’m coming from a limited perspective tho, never really heard these guys besides the hits

^ Same. I found Joshua Tree in a bargain bin a few weeks back, had never heard it in its entirety. I like it.

Whole thing seems fucking weird.
Just retire, you dinosaurs
| | |
Dreadful band and Bono is a piece of shit.
| | |
Maybe the Latin influence is exactly what they needed to reignite the spark
| | |
Song's pretty ok. Love the bass tone, though

Whatever hope I got from 'Silencio' has been balanced by the title of track 6.
| | |
Silencio = Silence.

Silencio = Silence.

Great, got into Heroes del Silencio recently. Much better band, y'all should check them out.
