PJ Harvey releases Voyager

2026-06-26 by Cyan isn't a shade of blue. | 8 Comments
English singer/songwriter PJ Harvey has released a new single entitled "Voyager." She was inspired by NASA's Voyage 2 probe and the song quotes scientist Carl Sagan.

Harvey also hints that another album is currently in the works, though further details about it have yet to be revealed. Do the space-like synths featured in the song hint at her next sonic exploration?

I hope she makes an entire album that's all space themed

It's difficult to share that I was introduced to her in the worst way possible;

Although I had heard her name before (primarily from her collaboration with Thom Yorke on "This Mess We're In" when I was in a Radiohead phase) the first album I actually heard beginning to end from her was "White Chalk", which was such a trailblazing album IMO. It a spiral down a rabbit hole which introduced me to Emma Ruth Rundle, A.A. Williams and most importantly, Chelsea Wolfe, all who have gone to become amongst my favourite artists of any genre. Somehow, nothing I've heard from here before or since remotely compares to White Chalk which I still hold as pioneer in this "Salem With Rock", which seems unfair since it seems like an album she chose to experiment on rather than committing to the genre itself (or the legacy it would produce). Hoping to give this a fair shot and (crossing fingers) as unbiased of a take as possible.

She's very much a chameleon type artist whose always trying new things, so hoping she stays the same will never work out when getting into her.

You gotta see her like a Beck or Bowie in that way even if she's not as like dancy/fun about it

I really need to listen to more of her. Maybe I’ll do a discog binge at work tomorrow.

Cool song
