I'm just glad we ditched the point system we used to do. I get the purpose of it to an extent but it felt so overcomplicated, and I didn't like how albums weren't weighted evenly.

Soo the best record of the year Perverts by Ethel Cain is really unsuitable for voting? I mean, she classified it as an EP so that she could release it outside the label but it's 90 min long lol. But here on sput it is under the EPs too so it's out of the game I guess

Only thing keeping Perverts from being considered an LP is an extended play was all she was contractually obligated to give the label, it’s an album regardless or not her or the label acknowledge it as such. I’m not gonna call a 90 minute feature length movie a short film just because that’s what the production company released it as

I mean, I agree with that, just saying that its listed as an EP everywhere and not an LP. Its like the Cradle of Filth situation where Vempire is like 45 minutes long, but its an EP.

Mine are in. Saya the messiah has been crowned. I don't have high hopes for most of my top 10 but thinking a few should sneak in.

The one 'contender' is possibly Anna Von, but I don't think she touches the big hitters in reality.

I think good ole Anna will make it in for sure. She's definitely top 4 on mine!

yeah, I'd be shocked if she wasn't there at all, just anticipating a fairly decent finish

hoping from a strong-ish showing from Veilburner and Imperial Triumphant also, like idk top 25 will do (my knowledge of this year is pitiful, so I can't tell you how many trve contenders there / whether that's realistic)

I think both of those will get good showings as well, especially Veilburner. I love that new IT, but it is my "least" fav of theirs technically and won't end up on my personal top 100, but its close. Probably in the 125-ish range for me.

I felt this year had some all timers, but as a whole it was mostly weak. I only really jammed like 4-5 albums tons of times the rest was just mostly 1-2 and done. Didn’t have a lot that stuck with me this year

I had 9 albums released this year that I like so had to make up some bullshit

Gotta give Greyhaven a shot. Deftones post DE is still mainly boring to me

Weakest year in a long time for me. Kinda mad about it. But I voted! Hoping for more.

After listening to waaay more new music than usual I think it's fine. But I'm still waiting for new songs from Poets of the Fall, which have supposedly been in the making (I'm still so hyped).

Imo 2023 was the weakest year of the decade so far. Both 2024 and 2025 have been much better.
