I'm not a huge fan of these new songs, and I know I'm in the minority. I like early AFI, mid-career, and some of the later career stuff, especially Missing Man. Objectively I think they are good songs, but not what I want from AFI. Either way, I'll always be a fan.

You're not in the minority. The new one is just decent. The best songs are enough to anchor it around a light 3.5 for me, but it's around on par with their last couple albums.

This is such a great direction for the band. Shedding the immature emo kid sounds entirely, and embracing something that’s genuinely moody and well written. These singles are atmospheric and catchy as fuck, and the new angle of the vocals is phenomenal for me. The writing and production actually makes this sound like an 80’s band, and that’s hard to pull off convincingly. It’s inspired and pulls from a lot, but the sound is wholly unique and well rounded.
I loved hearing bits and pieces of this direction on AFI and Burials, but this is the full realization of that, and I couldn’t be more excited as someone who isn’t 15 anymore. So pumped for this album.

Big fan of the direction, but song isn't as strong as the first two imo

Yeah this one isn't as idk direct as the last two but it's still great. Has more of a cure vibe vs. a kinda sisters of mercy vibe from the first two. I still feel like this is gonna be one of their best albums.

Sometimes the best listening experience is when you make yourself wait, and then make a private and personal event of it.
