Soulfly Storm the Gates 2025-08-28 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 9 Comments | 3 years after their last effort Totem and a period that saw Max Cavalera revisit his earliest material with Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly have released details of their 13th album Chama, due out 24 October 2025 via Nuclear Blast.
To coincide with the album's announcement, the band have released the first single, "Storm the Gates". Notably, the song returns to the nu/groove metal sound of their first 4 albums, albeit with a greater thrash influence than the aforementioned efforts. The album was again produced by Arthur Rizk and is the first since 2018's Ritual not to feature bassist Mike Leon. It is not yet known if touring guitarist Mike DeLeon and bassist Chase Bryant performed on the album.
Chama track list:
1. Indigenous Inquisition
2. Storm the Gates
3. Nihilist (feat. Todd Jones of Nails)
4. No Pain = No Power (feat. Dino Cazares of Fear Factory, Ben Cook & Gabriel Franco)
5. Ghenna (feat. Michael Amott of Arch Enemy)
6. Black Hole Scum
7. Favela / Dystopia
8. Always Was, Always Will Be...
9. Soulfly XIII
10. Chama

Seriously they had a bassist named Mike Leon and then hired a live guitarist named Mike DeLeon
There’s no way that’s not confusing somewhere

hahaha yes thought the same, had to read the sentence twice
the wikipedia band members section must look like a christmas tree at this point, they've had more changes than spinal tap

Now confirmed that the line-up for this album is:
Max Cavalera - vocals, rhythm guitar, probably extra percussion and stuff too
Zyon Cavalera - drums, percussion
Mike DeLeon - lead guitar
Igor Amadeus Cavalera - bass

I like it but I find the mix somewhere between unique and cassette quality. I think it mostly works.
