QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Which previously released song does this rip off?
|
| |
Pass, but I don't like it.
|
| |
Definitely better than the previous one. Even pleasant at times.
|
| |
Who even listens to this shit anymore
|
| |
People that only listens to the radio
|
| |
This is a song.
|
| |
my heart goes out to retail workers everywhere
|
| |
Same formula. Fans happy. Advertisers happy.
|
| |
Linkin Park is dead
|
| |
"Which previously released song does this rip off?"
Sounds a hell of a lot like the chorus of the song Jealousy by Pale Waves
|
| |
Great record actually
|
| |
They lost the edge that prevented them from being generic.
|
| |
unshitter
|
| |
"They lost the edge that prevented them from being generic."
To be fair, they did this a good bit before Chester passed.
|
| |
The bridge of this is kinda cool but minus that, yeah, this is definitely a song.
|
| |
Mike might actually be the biggest embarrassment in music
Every time he opens his mouth I cringe involuntarily
Emily is another solid contender too
|
| |
Sounds like a Christian rock band or like Paramore with a little faux-numetal grit decal stuck on it
|
| |
I learned that Saliva has a song called Unshatter Me
Considering it's not a real word.. and two terrible bands share it.. I will continue to listen to neither
|

The people who comment on this site are just entitled elitist clowns.
|
| |
I like this more than Up from the Bottom
|
| |
Music for Sonic The Hedgehog 4
|
| |
Definitely better than Up from the Bottom. Lyrics are eh, but I wouldn't call it bad by any means.
|
| |
"They lost the edge that prevented them from being generic."
Yeah this band has never sounded as generic as they do on the current album/era, honestly. Even some of the less exciting material from previous albums was still more interesting than this.
|
| |
Sounds like bleed it out.
|
| |
And agreed this is generic as fuck.
|
| |
“The people who comment on this site are just entitled elitist clowns.”
People shitting on a blatant and lazy cash grab doesn’t make us elitists
|
| |
"People shitting on a blatant and lazy cash grab doesn’t make us elitists"
Yup.
If they'd actually returned with a half decent album that justified the risk of potentially squandering Chester Bennington's legacy, as opposed to the bland/generic material that we've been getting, it wouldn't feel like a cash grab.
|
| |
It’s a pretty generic track that doesn’t really feel like Linkin Park. Honestly it could’ve come from almost any band.
|
| |
And yet, it's one of their better post-reformation songs.
|
| |
"People shitting on a blatant and lazy cash grab doesn’t make us elitists"
It has never been a cash grab though, don't understand where people get this stuff from
|
| |
I think both the new songs are better than like 40% of the original LP lol
|
| |
By the way, how does that garbage we call Living Things have a higher average rating than MTM?
|
| |
Eh not the worst. Quite a fun chorus and sounds less like something they did before.
|
| |
LP was always generic. They were just better at the genre than the other bands in the genre.
|
| |
In one ear and out the other, forgettable song
|
| |
living things does suck ass true

Song fucking sucks. Linkin Park has sucked since Minutes to Midnight. Just a case of fans loving anything the band does no matter the quality or how generic. I have a friend who defends every Shinedown album as some form of higher art. Mostly these people never really try to expand their horizons. One thing I have always loved about this site is that there are a lot of elitists here. More honest reactions and reviews. I think most of the frequent users of this site listen to music the same way I do. They pay attention to the nuance and intricacies in the music. It is about more than the lyrics or the beat, or how catchy it is. I hate to be that guy, but if you think the site is full of musical douchebags, you are pretty much correct, and no one is forcing you to be here. I see a lot less dick riding on bands here than I do on other sites/platforms. I might just be talking out my ass though, I'm pretty stoned.

Up From the Bottom was solid. This one is pretty forgettable. Chorus is decent I guess. I'm realizing I'm really missing the days of LP's guitars having balls. LP seldom had very technical guitar parts, but even when they lacked technicality, they always had great sounding guitar tone. This has neither.
|
| |
Sounds like the members of LP made a different band and called it LP.
"It's not a cash grab"
If it's not, then why can't they start a new band? It'd still be wildly successful... but probably not as successful as having the LP name attached to it.
I feel like a lot of these vocal lines sound like Chester never would've done them, and I wonder if that's part of the point.
|
| |
"If it's not then why can't they start a new band. It'd still be wildly successful"
As evidenced by all the other wildly successful second projects of musicians 20 years past their prime such as...umm...
|
| |
Shinoda setting up this band without the Linkin Park name would fail miserably lol. Also people would completely violate them for doing the LP copypasta stuff they did on From Zero like Two Faced
|
| |
^Very true
|
| |
Eh. I just don't really care about it anymore tbh. I just wanted something that felt like it paid tribute to Chester, and From Zero wasn't it for me. I mean, it's called "From Zero," like "hey we're starting this band over."
But I kind of get it, like if you're grieving over someone who used to be there for you, remembering they'd want you to be happy and do your own thing is major.
Fort Minor has 4 mil monthly listeners on Spotify. Their one album came out 20 years ago. LP'd do fine with a name change. Maybe it's literally just a legal thing so they can keep playing LP tracks.
|
| |
Oh, I thought out my response... my bad.
Nobody's saying that song is copypasta unless it's a fringe group and y'all agreeing with each other isn't changing that. lol But you can make the reality you want on the internet so it's cool.
Also, saying the dude's past his prime is like saying "wow, these guys are in their 50s and the vocalist can still scream perfectly" about someone else. It's completely irrelevant to the process of being an effective artist. If you practice with proper technique, you get better. And how good song-writing comes out has like a million factors influencing it, which is why people keep hope for bands that release trash. That's all I gotta say.
