Genuinely made my jaw drop when the chorus roared in the first time. Spiritual experience, hit even harder since I was uncaffeinated and unsuspecting. This is easily her best work since Plastic Hearts, in the running for the single best song she's ever put out

My wife loves Miley Cyrus. We both watched the music video and while I was taken by surprise and actually see this as growth from Miley, I really don't know how my wife took it when those drops hit. She's usually pretty vocal when she likes a song but she didn't say much after that one was over. But I was also too busy talking to her about how freaked out I was because of Miley's appearance. There's some shots in that where she looks terrifying. Purposeful or not, I'm not sure.

Yeh there’s a specific shot towards the end of the MV where she’s looking into the camera and honestly looks horrifying/unhuman.

I feel bad for her and countless others who were highly sexualized as kids and now feel the need to make themselves look like the crypt keeper to avoid the male gaze. Society treats women like chopped liver and girls even worse.
