Hundredth debut 'All The Way'

2025-03-25 by Aeri | 18 Comments
Following on from their most recent singles, 'Dark Side' & 'Wasteful', American rock group Hundredth have released another new track in anticipation for their upcoming sixth album - titled 'All The Way'.

Continuing the band's next shift in aesthetic direction, 'All The Way' again sees Hundredth discarding the shoegaze sound of 2017s RARE or dreampop aesthetics of 2020s Somewhere Nowhere, in favour of pursuing a more indie rock-driven sound.

Yeah this new album isn't gonna be for me sadly. Gonna go jam Rare again instead.

for real

they started as a decent metalcore band, then essentially started this whole coregaze movement in the mid 2010s, now they're an indie rock band

I miss the sound from Rare. This band has gotten super lame.

This song sounds like it belongs in an Urban Outfitters.

I maintain that I don't hate it... I just don't get why this is the sound they want to pursue.

Listening to all three of the new singles in one go, this is probably the better of the batch - there's some nice guitar tones in the background mix, the vocals are less annoying (can't stand the 'Dark Side' chorus), and 'Waste' was just boring.

Wish this bullshit trend of making AI music videos would die, tbh

I doubt it's going anywhere, tbh.

It's cheap and affordable and most bands these days are complaining about how little money they actually make - hiring a film studio/etc vs AI is an easy choice if funding is the question.

I kinda like the vocals (in the verse) and acoustic sound on Waste

'Waste' is a nice idea, and there are some decent instrumental elements, but it's the slow plodding boring pacing that absolutely kills it for me.

Hire a film studio?? There's so much to be done apart from that, though. I genuinely think it'd be better to find a film student, rent equipment, or just get one of your friends with a camera and actually come up with some ideas to execute. I'm not even averse to using AI to enhance your visuals when your budget is constrained and you have some grandiose vision, cause I've seen it done well in some hip hop vids here and there, but to make it the WHOLE thing just feels artistically bankrupt.
