From what I have read, the issue seems to revolve around general exhaustion over touring and playing live. Which is also why no farewell tour.

This last album could well be to satisfy their contract with ANTI-records

I remember my older brother liking them even though it seemed like a band he shouldn't like. Maybe there was some White Stripes vibe there that reminded him of something from the past. Anyhow I remember it was probably 'Celebration Rock' being ok but I generally don't like taking any recommendations from my older brother because he would always trash on all the music I liked.

So I never really thought of them much since until well this article.
