The band announced the song by saying "[w]e’re trying our best to make some new music, but in the meantime have yourself a merry little Christmas", which is certainly exciting. The cover comes equipped with a music video. One YouTube commenter expressed their desire for a full GoY Xmas album by posting "[p]lease release an entire Christmas album 💖". One can only hope.
