Song is a disappointment. Their heavy sections aren't great, unfortunately. The soft, mellow sound is what they truly excel at.

Going to try and hold off until album drops. Their single choices are wild west of either some of the best off the record or the most middling
|
| |
I will listen, since they still didn't announce a new guitarist and I wonder whether or not their sound will change because of that
|
| |
Enjoy this, but I enjoy most of their output.
|
| |
Not a fan of the guitar tone as with alot of modern prog bands. Dynamics are fucked, but I guess this is what they wanna go for. This is definitely just okay.
|
| |
4-ass band continues to pump out 4-ass material for me.
It's solid as hell I enjoy it qab more than some of the kind of djent-lite feeling repetitive riff+melody stuff on Rise Radiant. Which I still enjoyed pretty okay.
I do *kind of* agree with Pika on that point but I like me a lil of both.

I’m a huge fanboy for these guys since rise radiant came out, and this scratches the exact itch I go to them for. Very excited. Seems to be more proggy this go ‘round based on titles/track lengths.

I feel like they need to diversify their sound again. Also the Instrumentation is a bit unmemorable on this and RR for some reason. There were so many catchy melodies and runs on In Contact and now this is somehow dialed back.

This sounds like Haken worship (esp the vox) with some additional djent flair. I liked it but kinda middling
|
| |
Except for the chorus, the vocals seem pretty quiet in the mix. Still, decent song, the ending is very nice.
|
| |
I’ve never understood why I love these guys so much and really do not like Haken because of the vocals.

| |
Interesting choice of release date for an Australian band tbh
|
| |
Rise Radiant was middling to me after 2 great albums. Kind of worried about this one.
|
| |
Wasn't huge on Rise Radiant but this is really solid stuff. Excited for the new album for sure
|
| |
First big release of the year for me
|
| |
Saw these live on Friday with Devin Townsend. They played a new track, not sure if it was this one or not. They also played a four-piece, which was interesting. Didn't realise they'd lost a guitarist.
Song is okay, haven't dug these guys stuff post-Bloom. The djent-lite riffage they've been doing is just not good. Sucks coz I really liked them
|
| |
Well unlike most people I thought Rise Radiant was beautiful and that songs like the Tempest and Ascent are the best they've ever done (yes Graves is great too), so I'm hoping this album lives up to them. This song is average as far as they go though, so it doesn't exactly get my hopes up. Hoping to be proven very wrong.

| |
The djent-lite riffage they've been doing is just not good. [2]

I really enjoyed Rise Radiant as well, just found the instrumentation a bit unmemorable. Like, songs like Slow Violence aren't really catchy in that sense. The vocal hooks are top notch though. Would love them to diversify their sound again. When did we get a song like Firelight? It's been a while
|
| |
Pretty similar to rise radiant for me. Solid but nothing really stands out. Also what is with the production on the vocals?
|
| |
It's growing on me, kind of similar to Valkyrie off RR. Is Jim actually growling here or is that gang vox? I still stand by my criticism, but I am sure I will enjoy the album. I am also curious about all the long songs on the album. Please, give us some nice riffs and melodies!
