We, me my wife and kid, just like Greg. Between Dillinger, queen, killer and the solo stuff he usually makes an appearance on my playlists in one form or another. I’m sure l’ll find some stuff he releases with these guys as well. Tbh I don’t really know etid but Puciato being part of this had my attention. Can’t argue with the lyrics, not great at writing lyrics but he delivers them well enough that it doesn’t distract me. Kinda like Maynard, his lyric writing is terrible but usually he delivers them well enough that it doesn’t distract me, usually.

Yeah, it makes a massive difference if a project is authored by genre pioneers/innovators/leaders, opposed to those merely influenced by them.

Members of DEP, ETID and the like are fully entitled to sound like themselves. Clones of clones of clones can make decent music, but usually bring no innovation, so ultimately aren't that interesting.

Much as I easily prefer TDEP as a band, they suffered for the way their last two albs went for a cleaner vocalcentric (and therefore lyric-centric) approach bc damn that shit bland n basic (though straight fire when unintelligible), whereas I'd absolutely wanna share a pint and trade shitchat with Keith despite ETID lives seeming like an energy chore. Guy had a great grasp of language, irony and humour and I can't think of anyone else in this least lyrical of genres I'd read the same way
